“All You Need Is Love” Raises Over $200,000 for Doctors Without Borders

Since September 9, 2009, Microsoft has donated 112 MS Points for every downloaded copy of “All You Need Is Love” for The Beatles: Rock Band. (There’s still two more days to do this, since it ends January 31!) Turns out that adds up to a lot of cash. How much? As of today, over $217,000. That’s nothin’ to sneeze at. All that money goes to Doctors Without Borders, and because of fundraisers like these, DWB/MSF was able to respond to the Haitian crisis quickly by building emergency triage stations and responding to those with major injuries without delay. Download this classic song in the next two days and lend your 112 points of help.

Lead and Gold: Not Just Metals Anymore

Paradox Entertainment is releasing a new team-based online shooter called Lead and Gold: Gangs of the Wild West. Since it’s not quite done yet, we can only tell you a few things. First off, you can play as one of four characters, as seen to the right. (You can click that to get the full-size version.) Each character has strengths and weaknesses. The “Synergy” system will reward players that actually play as a team instead of only for themselves (thank goodness). It’s Paradox’s first console shooter, and will feature modes like Conquest, Robbery, and Shootout. Also, it will look nice (see trailer below). And it will be released in the second quarter of this year. See, we know a lot! Video Games | Lead & Gold | Exclusive Debut Trailer XBox 360 | Playstation 3 | Nintendo Wii

    Review: Rozen Maiden (Season 1)

You know, I’m really getting a lot of new anime added to my favourites list lately. Guess what just got added? Release Date: 21/10/2009 Audio tracks: Dolby Digital 2.0: English, Dolby Digital 2.0: Japanese Languages: ENGLISH, JAPANESE Genre: Anime, Comedy, Drama, Fantasy Subtitles: ENGLISH subtitles Number of Discs: 2 Runtime: 300.0 mins When you were younger, did you always wish to some degree that one (or more) of your toys would spring to life and interact with you as a person? In Jun Sakurada’s case he gets this wish granted, but not in the way I imagine he would have hoped. Jun is a reclusive young teen when we first meet him. He refuses to go to school, and is rude to his sister Nori a lot. He also likes to buy things over the internet, but not your usual items. Things like voodoo dolls. One odd item that he

    First Look: Dragonica Online

Recently I was able to take a peek at THQ*ICE’s Dragonica Online and the new sever, Dekard, which is coming out! Dragonica Online is a free to play MMO for PCs, and it’s pretty well done! It’s a 3D side scrolling game with good graphics and a rich environment. And there is definitely a fun sense of humor in the game as well. The story surrounds the history between dragons and humans. Since the end of the Dragon War the humans and dragons have kept to their own seperate worlds, however the Dark Dragon Elga led a revolt that killed the Dragon Lord and invaded the human world. Five legendary heroes defeated Elga in battle and imprisoned the Dark Dragon in the Shadow Cabinet. Now the threat of the Dark Dragon being released and the heroes must rise again to fight back. In the beginning you have the choice to

    Review: Foursquare

I’m not talking about your old school foursquare, with chalk, a ball and too much aggression. I’m about about the moblie app, and web site designed for people on the move and who wish to explore. For the longest time Foursquare was limited to a list of cities. If your city wasn’t on the list, then it was pretty much pointless to have the app.  Since then it’s been upgraded to the “Elsewhere” mode, where you can check-in no matter where you are.  People from all over, including my isolated self, can check in, give updates, become mayor and provide suggestions of things to do.   Yet the question is, why should I even bother?  What,  I really enjoy about this concept is that it is away to explore new cities while traveling, as well as the place you have lived all your life.  I found a wonderful coffee shop in the middle of

And the 2010 GDC Ambassador Award Goes To…

The Penny Arcade guys! Writer Jerry Holkins, artist Mike Krahulik and business guru Robert Khoo have been given the award for creating a gamer-friendly empire that epitomized the positive aspects of “gamer culture.” They’ve used their powers only for good, creating a charity (Child’s Play) and the Penny Arcade Expo, which brings gamers together to celebrate the culture of gaming. They may have gotten a slow start in 1998, but now Penny Arcade is almost a household name (well, in gamer households, anyway). “The Penny Arcade crew might be some of the most flippant, adorable game fans out there,” said Meggan Scavio, Event Director for GDC. “So obviously, we’re delighted to recognize their efforts in providing a genuine voice and event for gamers, and working with both fans and developers in the Child’s Play Charity to raise millions of dollars for a great cause.” The award will be presented during
