The makers of Dragonica, a free-to-play MMORPG that is still in development, have announced a sweepstakes with a grand prize of a $2500 Best Buy gift card. (There are also fifteen other prizes, including some that consist of in-game money, but none are quite as awesome as that much cash to spend inside an electronics store.)

Entering the contest is quite simple: Just sign up for a THQ*ICE Passport, download the Dragonica client, and log in! It’s really easy as pie. Or as easy as downloading and opening something. (Maybe we should rethink that simile, because it takes me a lot longer to bake a pie.)

The sweepstakes will run through January 31, after which date, the sixteen winners will be chosen. Only one gets the $2500, though.

THQ*ICE is also offering special in-game gifts to those who use game cards, sold exclusively at Best Buy. (So that’s where the money is coming from.) The gifts change every month, so there’s an actual incentive to their microtransation model.
