Help Haiti Heal Features Signed Set of Harry Potter Books
Tweet
This isn’t really video game-related, per se, but it’s important! The HP Alliance has put together a fundraiser for Haiti relief with a giant list of awesome prizes.
How it works: Each prize has a certain donation level. After donating that much, you’re automatically entered in a drawing to win that prize. You do have to choose which raffle you want to be entered in. Buy multiple donations and you get multiple entries to win the item at that donation level. Easy as pie! EDIT: So far, they’ve raised $31,000.
Right now, notable items include:
- A complete set of signed Harry Potter books, including a note from JK Rowling (Single entry costs $100, but signed copies of her books are virtually impossible to get)
- Copy of Harlequin Valentine, signed by Neil Gaiman ($40)
- Two Terry Pratchett novels, signed by Terry Pratchett ($40)
- Harry Potter chess set ($30)
- Sirius Black sketch by John K. Snyder, III ($50)
- More signed books
- Signed posters
- Music
- Memorabilia (True Blood, Where the Wild Things Are, Dexter)
- Convention passes
- EDIT: Looks like Potter star Tom Felton will be donating a signed guitar to the cause.
All in all, it’s a pretty awesome list and a pretty awesome cause (that we at GamingAngels support fully). Donations will be open until January 30 at 11:59 p.m. (I’m assuming Eastern time).
For the full list of prizes and the donation buttons you have to use, see here.
In addition, a webcast will be going on just a little while longer at this link. (Guests include wizard rockers, podcasters, and even cast members from “The Wire” and “Heroes.”) Watch, enjoy, give.
