“James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game” Licensed for 3D
Tweet
So, you can go to the local IMAX and watch a movie in 3D. You can do it at the local movie theatre. Soon, you’ll be able to buy a 3D-capable television. So, what combines all of these? A 3D video game based on a movie, of course!
Ubisoft has licensed and integrated RealD technology into James Cameron’s Avatar: The Game. That means that when you play it on a 3D-enabled television, the Na’vi will be in your living room with you. Or at least coming out of your television. A little bit. Possibly while pointing spears in your direction. This is done with no special equipment except a 3D television and 3D glasses (which would be quite the hefty investment, so luckily the feature will be built into the game).
Does this blur the line of reality in gaming a little too much? With people complaining of depression after seeing the film (no, not even kidding), is this going too far? Do you think it’s just going to be completely awesome? Let us know in the comments.
(Screenshot from IGN, obviously, which Ubisoft allows to host all of their media for this game, for reasons unknown.)
