A Chat With Tweet Defense Producer – Promethium’s Chris Paladino

There is a new zombie threat on the horizon headed to an iPhone near you. Tweet Defense is a unique tower defense game that utilizes (but doesn’t require) your Twitter account to boost gameplay. We had an opportunity to toss a few questions over to the team at Promethium that put it all together and learned more about how the game works with Twitter, zombie obsessions, and where the company is headed. Enjoy! GA: Firstly, tell us a little bit about Promethium. CP: Promethium is a marketing company formed by ex-Microsofters Tony Hynes, Nelson Rodriguez and Chris Paladino. We also were lucky enough to steal Jay Van Beveren from his job bringing the company to 4. We have lots of experience building communities around brands; finding those passionate fans and giving them the information they need to thrive. We’ve been fortunate to be able to work with some of the

Atari is celebrating a franchise’s big 3-0 with a 30th anniversary edition of Missile Command. The new version currently lives in a mini-site dedicated to the game, and adds entirely online multiplayer gameplay, a first for the franchise. Best of all, this new Missile Command is free to play at www.missilecommand.com. Inspired by the very real threat of nuclear retaliations in 1980, Missile Command has the player protecting six cities from a continuously-larger library of missiles with a trackball control method. Missile Command was an Atari 2600 bestseller. The online version is the result of an Atari/OMGPOP collaboration, and includes new features like new power-ups, new enemies, upgrades, and online multiplayer co-op. It also features somewhat adaptive difficulty, with the difficulty changing in response to the level of the game and number of players. For being a top player, you even get a little virtual medal to place you on

Superman’s First Appearance Sells for $1 Million

In a private auction this week, an anonymous bidder spent $1 million for the first issue of Action Comics, which originally sold for 10 cents back in 1938. According to MarketWatch, the million dollar sale means this issue of Action Comics increased in value 10 million times since it’s original publish date, and three times just in the last year. The last collector to purchase a copy only paid #317,000. “They said it couldn’t be done. They said that no comic book — no matter how rare — would ever sell for $1,000,000. This week, they were proven wrong. And in the midst of a recession, no less!” exclaims a triumphant press release from ComicConnect.com, the Web site that arranged the auction. “The excellent condition of this particular comic is the primary reason it sold for such a sum. Rated at 8/10 for its quality, the copy is in far

Capcom Adds More Pre-Order Bonuses to Lost Planet 2, Confirms Splitscreen

So, originally, if you pre-ordered Lost Planet 2 at GameStop, you got a skin of RE5′s Albert Wesker and the Magnum Revolver weapon. However…well, they became so popular that Capcom has decided to give those items to everyone! “But what do I get now? I had something special, but now everyone has it! These two map packs include “Helix”, with several layers and twisted corridors, and “Back to the Island,” which includes all of Island 902 from the beaches to the carrier and underwater. Capcom has also decided to include localized splitscreen gameplay in Lost Planet 2. So now you can play with a friend without having to have two consoles. One couch will do.
