Barnes and Noble Announces finalists for the 2009 Discover Great New Writers Awards

Yesterday Barnes and Noble announced their finalists for the 2009 Discover Great New Writers Awards in Fiction and Nonfiction. The finalists have the chance to win the grand prize of $10,000 and a full year of additional promotion from Barnes & Noble. Second-place finalists receive $5,000, and third-place finalists, $2,500. The winners will be announced on March 3rd at The Discover Awards, and I wish them all the best of luck! You can see the finalists in each category below:

Fiction
Barb Johnson, More of This World or Maybe Another (HarperPerennial)
Victor Lodato, Mathilda Savitch (Farrar, Straus & Giroux)
C. E. Morgan, All the Living (Farrar, Straus & Giroux)

Nonfiction
Dave Cullen, Columbine (Twelve)
Toby Lester, The Fourth Part of the World: The Race to the Ends of the Earth, and the Epic Story of the Map that Gave America Its Name (Free Press)
Neil White, In the Sanctuary of Outcasts: A Memoir (William Morrow)
