Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Celebrity Challenge coverage
Tweet
Last night we attended the Electronic Art/GameStop Battlefield Celebrity Bracket Challenge. We didn’t get red carpet coverage because the red carpet was very small. I let the pros tape and I stepped inside.
Inside the club, two rows of consoles televisions and consoles. The competition may have started late, but started with a bang as Chad OchoCinco proclaimed his team the early winner…except they lost both matches. It was great seeing Marshall Faulk, Greg Grunberg, Perez Hilton, all having fun playing the game.
The map they played is “Squad Rush” which is available with a GameStop pre-order. The map will be made available after 30 days to other gamers. In “Squad Rush”, the map is smaller and vehicles are not available. This leads for fast, team play. One of the celebrities exclaimed how fun the action was because it was fast. The map also features destructible environment. We’re not talking planks of wood breaking here, we’re talking about the whole house coming down. A producer told me that a strategy he uses is to shoot a hole in the wood (door/wall) and then proceed to use the rest of the wood as a shield and shoot out of the hole.
A few celebrities surprised me with how well the played! 90210 stars Tristan Wilde and Matt Lanter consistently took out members of the other team . Charlie O’Connell was not only talented but really hot too!
The night was great fun and leads into the Gamestop tournament. Sign up for the tournament online at http://www.gamestopbracketchallenge.com/ from February 18 to March 4. Random winners will be chosen and EA will donate $25,000 to the winning celebrity team’s designated charity.
I want to encourage you ladies to register for the tournament because EA Marketing doesn’t seem to realize that women play their games. One marketing representative was stunned when I explained that ladies on GamingAngels were playing the Battlefield Bad Company 2. He asked about marketing to female gamers and then asked if we just played games like Final Fantasy. It amazes me every time I meet an industry person who still doesn’t get that women play games. So let’s show them with action. Hopefully with support and growth of GamingAngels.com, we’ll start changing the minds of Marketing folks everywhere!
