Hasbro Moves Eight Million (With EA’s Help, Of Course)

The “Play” side of Electronic Arts announced today that its Hasbro-branded video games have sold a combined total of more than eight million units at retail globally since EA’s acquisition of Hasbro in 2007.
EA attributes the soaring popularity of the Hasbro line to a combination of a combination of things: the growing appeal of family-friendly video games, the demand for video games designed specifically for girls (even though a lot of us just want the same stuff as the boys), and the fact that people just plain know who Hasbro is and want what they have to offer.
EA has extended the Hasbro lineup to more platforms with Pogo.com, and through EA Mobile, with devices like the iPhone. So far, 10 Hasbro properties (including games like Clue and Yahtzee) have made it into the App Store Top 100.
“Hasbro’s powerhouse alliance with EA continues to deliver big hits for casual gamers around the world across every major platform,” said Mark Blecher, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Digital Gaming and Media at Hasbro. “Together, we continue to re-imagine the Hasbro-branded play experience and put it at the fingertips of consumers so they can ignite Hasbro-style fun any time, any place.”
