Konami at Toy Fair

Konami will introduce their 2010 product line at the American International Toy Fair in New York City later this month. For anyone who is planning on attending this event, their booth is #5627 on the first level of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.  The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG was recently entered into the Guinness World Records as the best-selling trading card game of all time, with more than 22 billion, yes, billion, cards sold worldwide. Some of the exciting products that have been announced and will be talked about further at the Toy Fair, are the Absolute Powerforce booster packs, and a new ready-to-play Structure Deck.

The Absolute Powerforce booster pack set will be released February 16. There are five Synchro Monsters at the center of the 100-card set, including the new trump cards used by Yusei and Jack of the animated series, and the new dragons of the arch-villain Rex Goodwin. Absolute Powerforce includes 10 World Premiere cards never before seen as well as 10 bonus cards that were previously available only as promotional cards in Japan. In late March, the Special Edition packs will be released. These packs will include three booster packs and one of two variant cards. The individual boosters will sell for about $3.99, and the special edition packs will go for about $9.99.

The Machina Mayhem Structure Deck will be available late February, selling for only $9.99. This will be a 40-card playable deck with 3 extra synchro monster cards. 11 brand new cards are included in this deck, and it will give Duelists the tools they need to summon creatures of explosive power and destruction. Structure decks like this are great for Duelists who know the basics, but may not necessarily have enough cards to make a good starting deck on their own. Most structure decks, Machina Mayhem included, come with a full rulebook, a game mat, and a guide with tips and tricks on how to improve the deck even more.

Duelists who are looking to add the more popular cards to their decks have the 2010 edition of the duelist pack collection tin, which contains three packs of “Duelist Pack-Yusei 2″ and a pack from the Ancient Prophecy set. Each tin has a special 3-card all-foil pack with three of Yusei’s favorite cards from the animated series. There are 3 different Tusei promo packs, each available through different retail outlets. As a special bonus, this tin set introduces Yusei’s amazing “Starlight Road” trap card. These tins, available in early March, will be going for about $9.99.

For the end of Konami’s plans for the first half of this year is Duelist Pack-Kaiba. This will be releasing in April for $1.99 per pack. The Shining Darkness booster set will come out in May, another new starter deck in early June, and July will bring the 60-card Hidden Arsenal 2 set that will have double the cards of the first Hidden Arsenal set released in 2009.
