Online Game of the Week – Patience Deluxe

By: dawn

This week marks the return of the Online Game of the Week here in the Casual section of GamingAngels.com! Of course we do still want you to check out the Game Zone because the games between here and there will still be different. But look here every Sunday for a new game to play! This week, I am getting back to my roots and playing a little solitaire! So in honor of that, here is Patience Deluxe. This is a kind of solitaire I don’t normally see out on the game sites. The object is to put the cards in order from left to right from kings on down in the same suit by moving cards around to the empty slots, decreasing in order from the cards next to the empty spots. Sounds easy, but sounds can be deceiving. Try it out, let me know how you like it. Also, let me know what kind of games you’d like to see featured in this column in the future.
Enjoy!

It is tough, Dawn, and that's part of the fun. Unlike most games that you win every time, Patience/Montana not so much. The key, really, is to look ahead to what will happen a couple moves from when you move a card. If it's going to cause a dead space, look at another spot. Often, you can shift things in a way that can keep the other dead space from happening. It's called Patience because you do better if you take the time to look at the consequences of your actions, not just shuffle the cards about hoping it'll work =) It's a great educational card game, for that.

I totally know a game just like this called Montana, the only difference is you play from 2 - King, and spaces after kings are dead, rather than the other way around. It's just as fun this way, even though my brain really wants the card values to increase, not decrease.
