    WonderCon 2010

Alright everyone, it’s that time of the year where cosplayers, gaming fanatics, comic geeks, and nerds of all ages gather for… convention season! There’s already been a few (like PAX East), but this weekend is San Francisco’s WonderCon. WonderCon is like the sister convention to ComicCon. There will be a ton of vendors and artist’s alley, which is one of my favorite parts of any convention. From April 2nd through April 4th, the Moscone Center in San Francisco will be the home to many big names and companies ready and willing to talk to you congoers. Some of the people of interest that will be there is Max Brooks, author of the popular book World War Z and the Zombie Survival Guide. Colleen Doran, who has done art for Neil Gaiman and Anne Rice’s work, among many others, will also be at a booth to sign autographs. For a complete

Bethesda Softworks Shows Off “Hunted: Demon’s Forge” at GDC

During GDC, I got the chance to sit in a room full of journalists who were all about to be shown a new title by Bethesda Softworks that we hadn’t really heard much of anything about. Quietly, they started up their demo and we got pulled into the world of “Hunted”, a return to the Dungeon Crawlers of way-back when games were more about exploration than the “phat lewtz”. As the developers talked to us about how they each enjoyed the titles like Wizardry, Diablo and many others; they explained how Hunted would bring people back into the mindset of those titles. To be released on PS3, Xbox and PC – the group wanted to make a heavy focus on Co-Op gameplay because they felt that Dungeon games were always much more enjoyable when you had someone else to saddle up with and bring into the mix. As true as

It’s Four Marvel Universes in One: “Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions”

New Activision and Marvel title Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is the newest announced title for the wall-crawler. Set to be released in September of this year, it features four different Spider-Man worlds from multiple Marvel universes. The first of these are the Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man Noir universes. The Amazing Spider-Man features levels that pay tribute to the early days of the superhero’s comic appearances, while offering new web combat and bright visuals. Spider-Man Noir, on the other hand, is a more stealth version of the webslinger in a 1930s-inspired black-and-white environment. With a story written by Dan Slott that takes players on a mission to capture the magical energy of the Tablet of Order and Chaos, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions will make you battle fan-favorite villains as well as new versions of old favorites in order to restore peace and reality. The game is not yet rated, and you can learn

Stephenie Meyer Takes Another Hop Onto the Money Train, Except When the Book is Free

Stephenie Meyer, authoress of the epically-popular Twilight series, announced yesterday that a short novella based on a character that appears in Eclipse will be making its way to store shelves this June. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (and no, it has nothing to do with the Second Life game) will be distributed in both digital and physical forms, but the latter costs $10, while the former…well, you can read it online. For free. As a special “thank you” to her fans, “Bree Tanner” will be available as a read-only file for a month after its release, meaning no downloads allowed. (But we all know that won’t work.) As an incentive to buy the novella, one dollar from each purchase goes directly to the Red Cross. So, if you’re the person who has to have the books lined up in a row on your bookshelf, at least you can

Goodbye Jingle, Hello Beep!: Starbucks Accepting iPhone payment app in over 1,000 store.

I woke up this morning, sat on the couch with my cup of breakfast blend and surfed the net for my dose of internet news.  I come across this little nugget of coffee news. Now, you can get rid of that change that is jingling around in your pocket, and replace it with this wonderful app.  How does this work? Well the app displays a QR code on the display which is linked to your Starbucks card.  Swipe and then your billed. It has been around for a while but it wasn’t available in a number store, but now it is an acceptable form of payment in over 1 000 store. The app is free and available for the iPhone and the iPod Touch. For more information: Starbucks Apps Source: Gizmodo

    Review: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3)

Since the North American release of Final Fantasy 12 in October 2006, fans of Square Enix‘s golden child series have waited eagerly for the game’s 13th full installment, and it’s first for this generation. Having purchased every Final Fantasy upon it’s release since Final Fantasy VII in 1997, I was highly anticipating XIII more than any other upcoming game since it’s announcement. But does it live up to the hype? Yes and no. Rating: T for Teen Players: 1 Genre: JRPG System: PS3 Publisher: SquareEnix Release Date: March 9, 2010 Final Fantasy XIII BUY While I really enjoyed XIII and found it to be a remarkable game in many aspects, and I still consider it a front runner of quality RPGs this generation, there are still some facets of it that I felt could have been better or more developed than they were. Especially considering the length of time it
