Australia’s “Mana Bar” set to open March 20th!

Exciting news has come in thanks to Guy “Yug” Blomberg that his new magnum opus will be officially launched on March 20th! If you aren’t familiar by now, the Mana Bar (Australia’s first Video Game bar) is co-owned by Yug, Yahtzee (of “Zero Punctuation” fame), Pras Moorthy and Shay Leighton, and is situated in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Queensland. They plan on hosting a variety of events including trivia nights and game launch parties, so it’s something to keep an eye out for. The gentlemen are hosting an opening party that boasts free entry (and more importantly free games!) for those who attend. And in addition to the awesome drinks and games on offer, the people behind “Raskulls” (an XBox Live game currently in development at Brisbane’s Halfbrick Studios) have given them exclusive codes to give away to patrons! If that wasn’t enough, there is also going to be hourly prizes,

Stonecreek entertainment turns it’s attention toward women

A new publisher is joining the gaming industry and this one is concentrating on just us! While my stance is that companies don’t have to just make games for one gender, it is nice to see what companies come up with when they do. Stone Creek Entertainment is taking on the women and teen audience and will be focusing on video games for that market. The company already has games in pre-production and hopefully we’ll get an interview with them to inform you on what they have in store. In the meantime, Stone Creek will be publishing the games under their “Karizmac” brand. “Our Karizmac line will provide deeper, more emotionally and intellectually engaging experiences than ‘girl’s games’ currently offer,” said Sharon Wood, CEO of Stone Creek Entertainment. “We’ve put a lot of experience and expertise in these games, and we’re confident we’ll be able to provide young women and

Quick Highlights of Take-Two First Quarter 2010 Financial Results Call

Besides the sad news of a Red Dead Delay, Take Two also took the time to reveal a little bit more about its game lineup for the rest of fiscal 2010. First off, we have roundabout dates for L.A. Noire, Mafia II, Max Payne 3 and Sid Meier’s Civilization V. I say “roundabout” because we just have a quarter for them – the fourth quarter. So sometime between August and October 31, we’ll be seeing those games. Maybe. It was also announced that one of these could get pushed to fiscal year 2011. Which ones? Not too sure. NHL and NBA 2K11 are also coming out that quarter. More Borderlands DLC was also announced. Based on the success of The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, they will continue to publish DLC. In other news… BioShock 2 has sold over 3 million units to date. Take Two is planning to publish

Unexpected Red Dead Redemption Delay Announced Before Take-Two Financial Call

Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption will have to wait a few more weeks, it looks like. In a press release sent out a half-hour before today’s financial call, a new release date was revealed – May 18, 2010. Just a little different from the late April we knew of beforehand. Even Peter Parker can be affected by a bad economy

We’re still in the middle of a bad economy and not even superheros are safe from the affects. Peter Parker’s latest story line has him getting fired. Starting in Amazing Spider-Man #623, on sale March 3rd, Peter loses his job at the Mayor’s office. Peter tries to protect J. Jonah Jameson and the city and in the meantime loses his career as a photographer. There’s always weddings Petey. I’ve learned people make quite a bit doing that. This storyline will follow Peter to see if he can handle being a Super Hero when he can’t pay his bills. “Peter Parker’s been through some rough times lately, with all of his deadliest foes returning, and he couldn’t lose his job at a worse time” said Senior Editor Steve Wacker. “He’s going to struggle with unemployment and trying to save the city while he can barely afford to keep a roof over

Stan Lee to Oversee Three New Superhero Titles

POW! Entertainment and BOOM! Studios announced that Stan Lee will be behind three new superhero titles, which will premiere later this year. One will be written by BOOM! Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid, and the other two will be written by other “A-list writers.” Later announcements will give details on the teams and release roll-outs. This revelation comes after a viral marketing campaign announcing that “Stan’s Back,” which hit the internet early last week. The campaign exploded through ads on comic book news sites and blogs, as well as print ads in the LA Times. All the banner ads linked back to www.stansback.com, a site which had only the “Stan’s Back” logo. (Oh, come on! At least give them an alternate reality game! Those are tons more fun.) Yesterday, the point of the whole campaign was revealed – Stan Lee is back, presenting a comic book series for the Direct Market comic
