Bad Company 2 Servers Hit Hard by Increased Play This Weekend

We’ve got a little bit of the Bad Company 2 blues on our hands today. After increased play this weekend, the multiplayer servers encountered another outage. The state of the servers are as follows: - Xbox 360 was severely impacted, and the service is being restarted. It should be back online and we are monitoring closely. - PC had an outage and the service was offline, but it should either be back or on the way to being back. - PS3 appeared to have a brief outage, but has quickly recovered and the services is functioning properly at this time. (Huh, kind of like the ApocalyPS3.) They’re working hard to fix any problems. Apparently all of this started because they had 400% more traffic than any other Battlefield title’s ever had before. Uh, wow.

2K Starts the Sexiest Partnership Ever, for Mafia II’s Sake

2K Games has established a surprising licensing agreement with Playboy magazine. What does this entail? Well, 2K is now allowed to use more than 50 vintage covers and centerfolds (so these are the classy ones!) in order to add just a tad more realism to Mafia II, set in the 40s and 50s. In-game, players will be able to collect virtual Playboy issues (and, I assume, study the pictorial content as much as they wish). “In partnering with Playboy, we are able to add a unique element of authenticity to the game by using vintage images from the magazine that illustrate the power of Playboy’s influence on the attitudes and culture of that generation,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. Personally, I think that this is a good decision and not at all an anachronism for the game. The game is set during Playboy’s heyday, and the older covers aren’t

    Review: God of War III

God of War III continues the story of Kratos as he scales Mount Olympus to finish his revenge on those who have betrayed him. Genre: Hack ‘n Slash Publisher: Sony Rating: M Release Date: March 16, 2009 (NA) I’ve been a fan of the God of War series since I first got my hands on the first game on the PS2. Since then I’ve played just about all of the games, so when I was offered the chance to review God of War III for the PS3 I was quite excited! I had heard a lot about the game and the trailers, screenshots and the demo I got to play furthered my interest in the game. Thankfully I was not disappointed! God of War III is the last in the trilogy and it starts off with a bang. You begin riding on the back of Gaia as she and the

Your Mac is About to Get a Little Steam-ier

Mac users, rejoice! Finally, you’re going to get something to play besides The Sims and Spore! No more dual-booting, either! Steam – Valve’s digital content delivery service – is coming to the Mac! Valve’s game library (including Left 4 Dead 2, the Half-Life series, and Team Fortress 2) will be making its way onto the new platform starting this April. And they won’t just be emulated Windows versions, either. “We looked at a variety of methods to get our games onto the Mac and in the end decided to go with native versions rather than emulation,” said John Cook, Director of Steam Development. ”The inclusion of WebKit into Steam, and of OpenGL into Source gives us a lot of flexibility in how we move these technologies forward. We are treating the Mac as a tier-1 platform so all of our future games will release simultaneously on Windows, Mac, and the Xbox 360. Updates for
