PlayStation Move Announced at GDC, Bundles Available, Tons of Screenshots

Shuhei Yoshida, Sony’s Vice-President of Product Development, officially announced that the PlayStation motion controller’s name actually is PlayStation Move at the beginning of the press conference just under an hour ago. So the trademarks found earlier were completely correct! (Apologies for the changing picture sizes, but these are all Ustream screenshots.) Peter Dille also announced Move bundles – You can buy just the controller if you have an Eye already (remember, it’s necessary to play!), you can buy Move and an Eye together (for under $100!), or, if you’re starting out completely fresh, you can get a console and the Eye and Move all together. They are hoping to appeal to the hardcore gamer. “I hope no one says that we gummed up a game just by adding motion controls. I hope people say when they use PlayStation Move, ‘This is much better than holding a DualShock in my hands,’”

MySpace Still Trying to Be Relevant, Cleaning Up Games Experience

If you haven’t deleted your MySpace account yet, they’re making some big changes to their games section and making it easier for both users and developers to utilize. The MySpace Developers Platform will now offer analytics tools, as well. MySpace is attempting to replicate what made the music portion of the site so successful, since a third of users engage in games on the site daily and over 28 million users use the applications available on the site. MySpace also hosted a “Game Development on Social Platforms” workshop today at GDC. To speed up the process of getting more people to return to the site, they’re releasing a MySpace Games app for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Just to make it easier to get your daily fix. If you stopped using MySpace, will this get you to return? If you never stopped, will it become your number one social networking

OnLive is Imminent, Coming to PC and Mac Before Your TV

GameStop reported from the GamesBeat conference at GDC today that OnLive, the service that promises to stream games lag-free by doing all the graphics processing on servers, will be launching on June 17 in the lower 48 states via a Mac/PC browser plug-in for the service. (Sorry Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada!) Mini-consoles that attach to HDTVs will come later in the year. Right now, a monthly service charge of $14.95 is all it will cost to get going (besides buying the games you want to play at a slightly-lowered price). For the first 25,000 people that sign up, however, the first three months’ fees will be waived. (To give that a shot, go here.) Publishers supporting the service include, EA, Take Two, Codemasters, Ubisoft, THQ, Epic, Atari, and Warner Bros. The service has been demonstrated with minimal lag as of last year, but what happens when thousands of people sign

    Stickr

I am the post it note Queen. They hold my place in books, they are stuck all over my laptop, work station, hold my to do list, my need list, and that milk, bread and pizza list holder. They are bright, colorful, and oh so sticky.  Of course, when I see Sticky note application on MAC’s, Windows Sidebars, Linxus, I get SUPER excited. I want to know how it works, what are the functions and what makes them different  for the other. My attention was drawn right away to Stickr, a site that is very twiiterish in style, and design. You can have followers, and track the stickrs that you post onto websites. So other friends can see what you have left on the site, and your reminders.  This is a great Firefox application for those of you needing to keep notes on websites all over the internet. The plus side with

Okay, So Maybe PlayStation Just Wants Us to Move

NeoGAF user GoFreak uncovered a European trademark filed by Sony yesterday. That filing claims the name for Sony’s 1:1 motion controller to be “PlayStation Move.” (Normally, forum posts aren’t reliable, but this is the same person who found the PlayStation Home logo, so he has some credibility.) They also filed a trademark on the symbol in the picture, which is, despite being a little grainy, theoretically the logo. It doesn’t look like an “M,” more like an “A” for Arc (which is what some people, including myself, have been calling it) but it’s also a nice representation of a light trail, which would still work. Maybe this will be confirmed at Sony’s press conference tonight. Or we’re all wrong and it’s just the PlayStation Magic Stick. I don’t really care what it’s called…I just want some semblance of Heavy Rain support. What games are you looking forward to seeing that
