Green Day: Rock Band Release Date Announced

By: Tiffany Nevin

Green Day: Rock Band will launch worldwide on June 8, 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. You’ll play as members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool, and gradually gain access to the band’s media vault, containing over 100 images and 40 minutes of previously-unreleased video footage.

Echoing The Beatles: Rock Band, this installment also utilizes the three-part vocal harmony technology (meaning up to six players at once), despite the fact that it’s usually just one person singing lead vocals in the original tunes. The full tracklist includes 47 tracks from the band’s full career, all of which are exportable for play in Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and the recently-announced Rock Band 3.

The pricing fot the assorted sets stands at:

Green Day: Rock Band standalone game for Xbox 360/PlayStation 3
  • US MSRP $59.99
Green Day: Rock Band standalone game for Wii
  • US MSRP $49.99
Green Day: Rock Band Plus for Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 (US/Canada only)
  • US MSRP $69.99
  • Includes special packaging, export and six Green Day DLC tracks ($22 total value)
The press release didn’t say anything about an instrument pack, so will that all be sold separately? Or is Harmonix working on special instruments for this release? If you’ve got guitars and drums and microphones from other games, however, they should work just fine.
