Online Friends Help Blind Gamer Beat Zelda
Tweet
Jordan Verner is a gamer. That, in itself, is pretty common. But…he’s also blind. That makes things a little more difficult.
He was attempting to play The Legend of Zelda on N64, but wasn’t doing too well. He reached out for help over Skype and three Zelda series superfans decided to help him. They split the game into thirds and then painstakingly recorded every single action with text. Verner then copied and pasted the text into the computer, and followed the directions as the computer read to him.
Sounds next-to-impossible, right? Well, maybe without perseverance. Jordan and his friends helped him complete the game over the course of two years. It took over 100,000 keystrokes to get it done, but Jordan finished. Maybe not so impossible after all. Jordan said in his interview that, “The impossible is only the untried.”
True words, man.
