Team Up: Starbucks and Foursquare
Tweet
Every staff member (GA and Work) knows my slight addiction or to be correct obsession with coffee. I like my coffee morning, noon and
night. I have also fallen in love with Foursquare. You know that little “exploration” app for people on the move. What happens when my two favorite things come together? Well I believe chaos is about to ensue.
Starbucks and Foursquare has teamed up together to offer…..wait for it…..a badge! Oh the Excitement! In order for you to get the foursquare badge, you need to check in five times into a Starbucks location. Where this becomes a little fuzzy is the fact that it is unknown if it is five different Starbucks locations or just five times.
What makes this big news then, if there are no free offers, or rewards for those visiting? What’s the big deal? Well two things to be exact. One, If a company as big as Starbucks is realizing the power and influence of Foursquare, then it will be soon that other larger companies will be hopping on the Foursquare bandwagon. Two, the company shall begin to monitor the use and see if it can be integrated into their already existing loyalty plan. According to The New York Times Bits Blog “that the company is ‘hoping to use Foursquare to provide even more meaningful prizes, like invitations to special events, photo-sharing or online reputation scores.’ ”
What do you think? Will you be looking forward to the adding of rewards? Or is it just another meh?
