My girlfriend bought a PS3 during boxing week and we were so excited to play it together. Then we found out that she gets motion sickness when playing games, especially first person shooters. It's so sad when I see her start a game only to stop and get discouraged because of the nauseating feeling. I also have it sometimes as well, only not as badly.I beat GTAIV and Arkham Asylum and it is sad to know that she will probably never complete the games she bought. She still has Dragon Age, Killzone 2, Infamous and Uncharted at our place. This tale does have a bright side tho, she can play games that don't involve too much movement like Sims 2, which I like as well. We share a couple of inside jokes about many games, and in my opinion that's one of the best things about having a gamer girlfriend. WOOT.

Awww. This is a great article. I showed my partner the list and we spent the weekend calling each other co-op partner for life. :)We have it a little easier because we have multiple consoles and multiple TVs, so we wouldn't need to share. For us, this is a necessity.

Great article and totally agree. Never went out with a female gamer but anytime ive run into one on XBL or PSN its always pretty cool playing with them especially when they are pretty good themselves. Dont mind the ones that arent really that good aswell aslong as they are trying their best, but the girls that annoy me are the ones that come in & arent even helping the team but more like trying to flirt & just doesnt do crap for the team or the ones that just come in and talk crap but cant even backup their talk.Other then that im cool wit any girl online & who knows, maybe one day ill date a gamer chick and ill keep in mind what u wrote, thanx for the tip tho. ;]

The female gamers who fit those preconceived notions are not real gamers. They are girls who want to get the attentions of their boyfriends who are doing so in a negative way.Secondly, I don't believe some of the commenters here and back on N4G fully understand that this isn't an article about going out and actively finding a female gamer as your life partner. It's about why you should not be "afraid" of dating someone with the same interests as yourself and learning to embrace it as a foundation of your relationship. Word! My ex and I used to just stay home and play Legend of Mana or Resident Evil together on the big screen. :DAnd we love geeky, gamer goods! We'd buy a Companion Cube, enjoy Mario cakes, gawk over Pong clocks...And some of us can be just as obsessive as male gamers in trying to complete the game or in terms of our OCD of tweaking a weapon right.

Personally, I do not think it matters who you date as long as you have a connection with that person. People who are complete opposites sometimes have the best kinds of relationships so you never know.The best thing to do is to just get yourself out there.Kind Regards,

I get the rough end of the stick - being a gamer girl with a girlfriend who only plays games occassionally/casually, I can say that neither of us went into the relationship with the intent of finding a gaming girl! ;)But when social functions come along, I tend to get lumped in with a lot of our mutual male friends, who are more into gaming/anime/technology than their counterparts. Basically, being the "gamer girl" makes me the butch lesbian in the relationship.It would be interesting to see an article on why a non-gamer should settle down with a gamer. I mean, Yuki covered some of the good aspects (we know our way around the tech, we can have a good time at home, we learn to cooperate and share a lot more easily!), but I am sure there are plenty more reasons for the non-gamers to give us geeks a go! :D

This is a WONDERFUL article. I am currently dating a gamer chick, and she is amazing. She fits under 9 out of 10 of these. Just the other day, she helped me solve the Olympian Gardens puzzle in God of War 3.
When that came out I told her that if she came over, I would be glued to the TV for hours playing GOW. Her response was "I'm not coming over to see you......I'm coming over to see God of War 3." Just plain awesome.
SOMETIMES she complains about me playing Modern Warfare, but I understand why (she doesn't like FPS games in the first place lol)
Anyway, point is guys, you SHOULD date a gamer chick. Because BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, it really is a great plus to the relationship.

Great post!I agree with a lot of that, but I have to say that it's never worked out for me in the past if my BF was a gamer, though that could have just been down to his character obviously!I have said in the past that I'd not make gaming a pre-requisite to dating someone, but then again I don't have any set expectations at the moment anyway! For number 7, since my eyes are better, I helped him out with Dead Rising when it came to him having to be outside in the dark. He tried to go the shadows and he had a hard time seeing, so I told him where to go and kept an eye out for the "gangsters" (they're the ones in the jeep/car with the rap music (or hip hop?) playing). I've even given him heads up about where the item is, and he's even asked me to be his eyes and ears for certain games.

The only video games girls like to play is racing games. Every girl I usually play with, they'll only play games like the Sims or that retarded OMGPop site.
