Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days Art Revealed

Everyone, say hello to the boxart for Kane & Lynch 2. It features the duo in Shanghai (the game’s setting). I particularly love that the somewhat gritty style has been applied to the box. We already saw it in the first trailer for the game, so it showing up in the boxart is A+ work. Of course, if it wasn’t there, that might be cause for concern. ‘Til August 24, when the game comes out, I guess you’ll have to ogle that facial hair. But we’ll probably get more videos ‘twixt now and then.

Win Eternal Fame on Steam with Two Lead & Gold Contests Starting This Week

Since Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West is now available on Steam, Fatshark and Paradox Interactive have announced two contests for players on that platform to encourage the game’s competitive nature: “Kill the Fatsharks,” and “The Fastest Gun on Steam.” Details on both follow. In “Kill the Fatsharks,” starting today and ending April 18th, players get the chance to kill the game’s developers on Steam. They’ll be identified by the Fatshark Clan Tags. If you manage to take someone down, you get a special “Kill the Fatshark” Steam achievement called “Feedback.” Not to mention complete worldwide fame. I may be exaggerating the latter of the two. But the achievement is extremely limited, given that it’s only available until the 18th. So get to shootin’! “The Fastest Gun on Steam” takes the highest scorer on the experience leaderboard and plasters them on the wall of the saloon in Sinners

Bulletstorm Also Gets Announced Ahead of Cliffy B’s Jimmy Fallon Appearance

Nothing can get announced when it’s supposed to these days, can it? First, Gears 3 is accidentally announced, and now this? A press release from this morning revealed that Epic Games, People Can Fly and EA are behind brand-new IP Bulletstorm. GameInformer also gets in on the party, with their May cover dedicated to the new game. Bulletstorm, an FPS running on Unreal 3, is currently set for release in 2011. It tells the story of a band of mercenaries called “Dead Echo.” Two members of the team discover that they’ve been working for the wrong side and are exiled to the dusty corner of the galaxy that no one ever cleans. Since it’s all icky over there, it’s only natural that they’re surrounded by mutants and flesh-eating gangs (you really have no idea what inhaling space dust does to you). So they have two goals at that point. First,

Ousted Infinity Ward Co-Founders Form Respawn Entertainment – Coincidentally, Drama Will Probably Respawn

Jason West and Vince Zampella, recently-fired Infinity Ward Co-Founders and Creators of the Call of Duty series, have formed a new development studio, Respawn Entertainment. In a move that surprises approximately no one, Electronic Arts, Activision’s main competitor, has been awarded worldwide publishing and distribution rights by the studio. Because West and Zampella have been involved in FPS titles for so long, it’s almost certain (especially considering the startup’s name) that they’ll continue making games in the FPS genre. (Even though they apparently don’t have any specific games planned.) Their deal with EA allows them to own any IP that gets published. So, that’s good for them personally, as it’ll ensure that they get more control over every game that leaves the studio. EA is currently expecting blockbuster game franchises to come out of the duo, but will their lawsuit against Activision come back to bite them before they even

Netflix Watch Instantly Officially Hits the Wii

Even though people have been getting their Netflix discs in the mail for the Wii for a couple of weeks now, Nintendo and Netflix have just now announced that instant streaming of movies and TV episodes is available for the console. Well, “fully available.” (Their words.) Streaming from the Wii console (as well as streaming from any other console) is free to Netflix users on plans starting from $8.99 a month and up. All you need is the console, a broadband Internet connection, and the instant streaming disc Netflix provides (for free, at that). A press release from the two companies this morning stated that this partnership dramatically increases the reach of streaming content provided by Netflix, which is really quite true. How many people aren’t willing to watch a whole movie at their computers, but don’t have a PS3 or 360? Probably a lot of them. But a big
