Funimation acquired live action horror comedy

FUNimation announced that they’ve acquired the rights to the live action horror comedy, Vampire Girl vs. Frankenstein Girl. You read that correctly, live action horror comedy. Those are four words I didn’t think I’d see together. Here is the plot of the movie: “Valentine’s Day turns twisted for Mizushima after the vampire schoolgirl Monami gives him a chocolate laced with vampire blood. One bite of the delicious sweet infects him with immortality. This does not sit well with Mizushima’s jealous girlfriend Keiko. She wants him all to herself. A bloody battle between the two women ends with Keiko falling to her death. To her luck, Keiko’s mad scientist father reanimates her into an undead Frankenstein girl. Now on a level playing field, the undead damsels fight for the heart of Mizushima.” If you are in Ontario, Canada you can see the film April 15 and 16 at the Mayfair Theater.

    The Art of Cosplay

WonderCon was last weekend, and I had a bit of time to browse the dealer’s hall and artist’s alley in-between the panels I attended. Of course, I have always been in love with cosplay and I’ve even tried a few times to pull off a character myself. I can’t begin to describe how many different cosplays I’ve seen, from extremely good Pyramid Head cosplays, to my friend’s Death (a la Neil Gaiman) cosplay, to some that are less than stellar. I wanted to share with you some of the cosplay I saw this year at WonderCon 2010. For those of you familiar with Neil Gaiman’s works, you should recognize these two lovely ladies as the character Death. The shorter girl is a friend of mine, and the girl on the left is a young lady we met and chatted with at the con. To talk about the art of cosplay,

Classic Strategy Title X-Com Reincarnated As…XCOM

2K Marin, the studio in charge of BioShock (and BioShock 2), announced late last night that X-Com is back for Xbox 360 and PC. Except with a different name. Sort of. XCOM will also feature different gameplay – featuring FPS action. Everyone who loved the original might just be a tiny bit confused by this, but maybe they’ll make it work. I mean, it’s 2K. They know what they’re doing, right? It’s a drastic change, but maybe it’ll be for the better. To the newbies in the room who need to know what XCOM is, it tells the tale of humans struggling against an unknown enemy (like a ton of games out there) and puts you in an FBI agent’s body. Of course, this isn’t just any agent – it the one tasked with identifying and eliminating the threat. 2K has chosen to keep some of the strategery – you
