A “Geek” line of clothing launches for us women!
We’ve discussed here at GamingAngels about how difficult it is to find geek tshirts that fit us. Instead we deal with men sizes. The more crafty of us take those shirts, cut them up and wear them out. Finally a woman stepped up to fix that.
Ashley Eckstein, voice of Ahsoka Tano, has partnered with Lucas Licensing and the Araca Group to design and produce a line of fashionable Star Wars products made just for us females! We’ll start to see the products at various conventions and at the HerUniverse website.
It won’t just be Star Wars t-shirts, but we’ll finally have sweatshirts, hats and accessories designed specifically for women.
Ashley is not someone that took this idea lightly. According to her blog, she researched Star Wars fans and found that close to 50% of Star Wars and Sci Fi fans are women. But that much of the merchandise made is made for men or given the pink treatment to mean it was for us girls. We know something about that right ladies?
HerUniverse will be at San Diego Comic Con 2010 and I hope that we can get an interview. I’m looking forward to seeing the full line. Hopefully one day she’ll expand to include gaming wear.

There are other companies that have started to cater to the female geek. I recently picked up the Portal "The cake is a lie." shirt from Jinx and I was so excited that they had female sizes. :D A lot of companies tend to do designs for females, but on male sized shirts, so it's great to see that Ashley has stepped up to the plate! ^_^~Meg
