Capcom’s Having a Pretty Nice Day
Tweet
It’s a wonderful day to be Capcom. Announcing a ton of new games (in Hawaii, to boot), including a new series entry that will have a lot of fans incredibly happy. Making people happy makes people happy!
To start off, we’ve got Capcom vs. Marvel 3 on the way, and this one promises awesome comic book graphics as well as a compelling storyline! I don’t know how they’re going to manage the latter, but color us intrigued. The title will be released on PS3 and 360 in spring 2011.
Ōkamiden, a sequel to Ōkami, is coming out on Nintendo DS in 2011. You play as sun god Chibiterasu, who is armed with a celestial brush (obviously your stylus in this instance) to protect and restore the land.
Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 is also on the way in Q1 2011 as a downloadable title on PSN and XBL. Not only is Nathan coming back with his grappling hook, but he can finally jump, as well.
Sengoku BASARA: Samurai Heroes, out in Fall 2010, has you playing during a tumultuous period in Japanese history. You must master several different weapons to prevail in the final battle. This title is exclusively for PS3 and Wii, making me wonder if PlayStation Move will be involved here. (My bet is yes, but if you know, let me know!)
A new title from the Ace Attorney director for Nintendo DS this winter, Ghost Trick Phantom Detective, has you playing as a murder victim’s ghost who needs to figure out who killed him, but there’s one catch – his memories are gone! You need to use your newfound ghostly powers to collect clues and get to the bottom of your own murder.
There were also a couple of announcements regarding Dead Rising 2. A prologue to the new game will be released on Xbox LIVE ahead of the game’s launch. In addition, the full game has had co-op play added, with the ability to drop in and out if necessary. Perfect for you and your Player 2.
Capcom also announced a few DLC packs to keep the fun going. Super Street Fighter IV is getting a tournament mode in which you can compete online with others and even host your own tournaments. Lost Planet 2 is getting maps on the same day as the game’s launch (May 11), and MotoGP’s 09/10 DLC will update your 2009 tracks and racers to the 2010 versions.
With a ton of awesome stuff for every platform under the sun (except PSP – sorry, PSP!), Capcom is going to have a good year.
