FarmVille Coming to…Your Cell Phone?

By: Tiffany Nevin

Normally, this might pop up solely in mobile or casual game news, but with more active players online every day than even World of Warcraft, this little FarmVille tidbit is worth mentioning – looks like the game isn’t sticking to your computer for much longer.

A sneaky person over at Supererogatory noticed that a few new FarmVille domain names were popping up – namely, Farmvilleandroid.com, Farmvilleipad.com, Farmvilleiphone.com, and Farmvillesms.com. A little WHOIS registry digging turned up the brand-new domain owners – an address that matches Zynga’s already-operational FarmVille.com.

You can’t just leave it at that, though. Joystiq got a comment from Zynga about the situation: “Zynga plans to expand to various mobile platforms, but unfortunately, we cannot provide additional information at this time.” (I should also mention that I totally took our image for this post from their article, because I’ve never seen anything that so perfectly encapsulated my feelings about the “game.”)

So, not only is your farm going to follow you around in your pocket – if you’re not lucky enough to have one of those smartphone-doohickeys, you might even be able to play via SMS. Because it just wasn’t enough to complete your microtransactions on Facebook. Now you get to text your money away, as well.

Are you looking forward to these developments? This is the next logical step for Zynga, after all.
