Support your favorite literary character with a Novel-T

I stumbled upon this today in my internet wanderings and was blown away by how awesome of an idea this is. A company Novel-T (from Brooklyn!) who has created a line of shirts meant to be like baseball jerseys for your favorite literary characters. “Novel-T offers an opportunity to express your support for the all-stars of literature. For those who feel a connection to certain writers or characters–be it Walt Whitman’s expansive exultations, Huck Finn’s mischievous morality, or Bartleby’s seemingly inscrutable insubordination–these super-soft, jersey-style tees are the way to ‘wear your read.’” Checking out the designs, they are of course broken down into two different teams: the American Canons and the National Puncs. Each shirt has a symbol on the front that represents the character’s name that is on the back above a number. I can see at least 3 shirts I want, and my first will have to be

“Thundercats Ho!” Cartoon Network bringing back the classic series

I remember those afternoons when I would come home from middle school, sit down in front of the TV and watch some cartoons before starting homework. Thundercats was among that rotation and it was definitely a top favorite of mine. Well Cartoon Network is making my inner child squee with happiness as they’re going to be reviving the series with Warner Bros. Animation. Now if this was going to be done by any other animation house I’d be worried, but since it’s Warner Bros. I’m excited. They’ve done a great job with Batman, so I think they’ll do fine with Thundercats. Don’t believe me? Well check out the concept art for Lion-O. Yea that’s some exciting and tantalizing imagery there. Granted the animation may not get all of this into the final product, but hey it could come close. The series is set to come to TV next year from

Learn a new language on-the-go with the “Language Master” app

Learning a new language can be rough… who am I kidding – it can be impossible for some of us. Lucky for iPhone and iPod Touch owners, there’s an app for that. Actually, Hooray’s Language Master is actually a suite beginning with the recently released Western Europe app, which contains French, German, Greek, Italian, and Spanish. Future editions will include Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, Asia, English, Russian, Japanese, Welsh and Chinese. What makes Language Master different than traditional language-learning software is that it is actually a variety of mini-games that help players not only utilize their memory skills, but response time and pronunciation as well. After you’re done, check the leaderboards to see where you place. “We wanted to find a way to leverage a mobile platform to make learning a language not only engaging and interactive but fun,” said Ryan Stoner, Hooray’s co-founder and CEO. “Language Master is a valuable

“Lord of the Rings Online” Goes Free this Fall

Warner Bros. Interactive and Turbine’s “Lord of the Rings Online” (LOTRO) will be updated this fall to make the game free-to-play for everyone. (Codemasters will operate the free European version.) Turbine’s pricing model will allow players to download and play the game for free, but expansions, quest packs, items and account services will all be provided à la carte. If you want all of that content included in your game, you can join the VIP program for unlimited access to all of the game’s content for one price. This new model directly mimics the one used by popular Facebook games, which allow players to buy items they think they need. No word yet on whether or not players who have already pre-paid a few months in advance will be automatically enrolled in the VIP program, but one would definitely hope so. If you want a sneak peek of the new

Viz Cinema explores Sex and Japanese Pop Culture

Typically at GamingAngels we’re pretty PG-13, but many of our audience are adults and from time to time we’ll highlight adult topics. On June 11th, Viz Cinema will be hosting a night called, TokyoScope Talk Vol. 4: Hot Tears of Shame. The host is Patrick Macias, Editor-in-Chief of Otaku USA magazine. He’ll have guests as well. “Activate!” promotes community-driven game development for teens

Activate!, challenges pre-teens and teens alike to create games using Yoyo Games’ Game Maker software. The project was funded by technology giant AMD and created by PETLab (a collaboration between creative powerhouse Parsons The New School for Design and Games for Change) as a part of AMD’s Changing the Game program, which finds ways to educate teens about game design and development in addition to the world around them to create games that help others become globally conscious. Pretty neat, huh? The website hopes to inspire would-be game designers who may initially be turned off by the rigorous programming that can be involved in developing a game by using the software in conjunction with tutorials, example games, and user-generated game galleries. Users will also be able to upload their creations. Activate! is based on challenges, as opposed to traditional teaching methods to further engage the user. These challenges encompass current socially-conscious

Paradox Promising “Lead & Gold” Improvement for PS3 Users

Fatshark and Paradox’s multiplayer cowboy game, Lead & Gold: Gangs of the Wild West, encountered a lot of negative press when it was first released. Mainly because it was a completely broken game, according to a few reviewers. The PlayStation 3 version of the game, however, is about to get a little foundation lift. An update will make several “improvements and fixes,” including: An elimination of unexpected problems No more team-changing in private co-op games No more issues with the revive or tag icons Green game mode will no longer reward experience in the 2nd round No more issues after picking up the sack in robbery mode Your weapon won’t switch to the main one after a KD Hopefully, all of this actually happens, or they’ll end up losing a lot of players. Now, when are the updates for the other platforms coming out?
