Medal of Honor: First Look Exclusive from Community Summit

I want to go on the record and say it was a little thing that stuck out in my mind at first. True, the game is being heavily regarded as one of the Comeback Kids of next year and with all the reboots of series coming out – how could we not notice Medal of Honor? They knew the fans were panting, grasping at hints of something on the horizon that community forums were putting out but what could they have done? We knew nothing. Yet, it was a deliberate keep of animation that made my heart catch in my chest. One of the characters in the game, as he was walking up a wooden faux-bridge… stumbled. He stumbled, caught his footing and kept walking so the next person could walk up behind him and that is what had me stuck there. It was that kind of realism that took

    E3 2010: Ubisoft Press Conference

It was a big day for the Gaming Angels yesterday with three big names and press conferences: Microsoft, EA, and Ubisoft. Ubisoft ushered us in – in an albeit scattered fashion – into the beautiful Los Angeles Theatre. Breath. Taken. I was briefly distracted by the incredible lure of architecture and vintage nostalgia. After we’d settled in and had taken stock of our surroundings, we were ready to start. And by we, I mean the audience. Ubisoft, on the other hand, was not. We waited for close to an hour in a hot, sweaty, smelly theatre, tweeting wildly. When the lights went down, we all uttered a simultaneous, “Finally.” The event started off with an interesting introduction to the Ubisoft’s new venture with Kinect and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, “Child of Eden”. Its game-play, although powered by new technology, was certainly something we’ve seen before: a psychedelic gallivant into a cross between

Square Enix gets 3DS official with new Kingdom Hearts and Chocobo Racing titles

Disney and Square Enix fans get another thing to celebrate today with the official announcement of a Kingdom Hearts game in development for Nintendo’s new handheld console, the 3DS. In the screenshots released by Square Enix earlier today, the character models directly resemble their PS2 counterparts – age and all. You’re playing with a younger Sora and Riku. Whether or not this spells a remake of the original, it looks like it’s going to be fun. Square Enix also announced a new Chocobo Racing title, with “speedy racing” featured alongside classic Final Fantasy characters. (Well, I’d hope it would be speedy, given that it’s a racer.) No release dates were given for either title, but we don’t know when the system is coming out, either. What elements of both games are you looking forward to seeing in 3D? Follow

    A Steam-powered version of Portal 2 for the PS3 coming in 2011

GLaDOS loves deploying surprises. She had one for the gaming world this afternoon at Sony’s E3 press conference in the form of Gabe Newell, president and co-founder of Valve, making a very important announcement. All this time, we’ve been hearing that Portal 2 wouldn’t debut on the PS3 at the same time as the PC, Mac, and 360 versions. Fortunately, we now know that this isn’t the case at all. Portal 2 will debut on the same day as these other versions, and in addition, it will be the only console version to include Steamworks. Newell took the stage to deliver this information as well as debut the very first Portal 2 trailer (embedded below). Steamworks will allow Valve to implement automatic game updates, community features, DLC and other types of service that were previously difficult to implement on a console. There won’t be any cross-network play like on the

    Full details on PlayStation Plus

One of the surprises (okay, not really a surprise) at this afternoon’s Sony press conference at E3 was the announcement of a new tier of PlayStation Network service. PlayStation Plus will cost about $50 a year, or $17.99 for three months of service. (No monthly price is available for North America or Europe.) Since basic online gaming will still be free, a lot of people are wondering why they’d want to upgrade to the next tier of service. Well, according to a press release from shortly after the conference’s end, some PlayStation Plus features include: Full game trials – the games up for download will change every month, but during that month, you can play the full game. If you want to keep playing the game after the trial period ends, you can buy it. Membership includes some games for free, and you can play them for as long as
