Time to return to Silent Hill once more in 2011

This afternoon, Konami officially revealed that they will be publishing the eighth Silent Hill title for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011. The game will be a return to the original play style as a third-person horror game. You’ll play as accidentally-freed inmate Murphy Pendleton, who finds himself stranded in the town of Silent Hill after a prison vehicle crash. He’ll be armed only with the everyday items he finds around him, and the creatures and terrors after him are unrelenting. Hope that scary thing likes getting hit in the head with a chair. Various side quests will also be available, for the player that doesn’t want to stick to the main storyline. The quests you’ll be presented with will change depending on your own play style. New developer Vatra Games will be in charge of this iteration of the series, with a composer well-versed in horror, Daniel Licht,

A full list of Nintendo 3DS specs announced

Yesterday, Nintendo pleased quite a few fans by finally giving us a look at their new handheld 3D system, the 3DS. Now, we’ve got a full list of specs to share, provided by Nintendo. Notable things from the list include a new telescoping stylus (though I might be more likely to switch back to the one from my DS Lite if it ends up not working that well), a “Home” button that will supposedly call the system (whatever that means), another switch to turn off wireless communication (meaning that it will always be on by default) and a note that the system will support a charging cradle, but that does not indicate whether or not the system will ship with one. The full list of specs is below. Size (when closed): Approximately 5.3 inches wide, 2.9 inches long, 0.8 inches tall. Weight: Approximately 8 ounces. Look: Final design is TBA.

People have only been waiting for the next edition of Gran Turismo for about forever. In fact, a lot of people considered it off the table. But, like a carrot in front of a horse, Sony and Polyphony continued to dangle it in front of us, insistent that it was coming. And come, it has. With a release date of November 2 of this year, more than a few racing fans got the surprise they’d been waiting for yesterday at Sony’s press conference yesterday. And with the highly-anticipated titles, comes the special Collector’s Edition. Which, in this case, comes with a something that could legitimately add to someone’s collection – in this case, a 1:43 model of a 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V. You’ll also get a keychain (for your real car! How novel!), a downloadable pack of exclusive cars and a mammoth (300 page) “car lover’s guide.” Oh, and

E3 2010: Nintendo talks about past and the future

Due to Los Angeles traffic we almost missed the Nintendo conference and that would have been a huge loss. I probably would have cried. We ended up being only a couple of minutes late and walked in as Miyamoto was having a struggle demoing the new Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. He did make a joke about the media using up the wifi in the room. The new Zelda title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword still needs some tweaks as Miyamoto pointed out. He stated that the title will be out in 2011. In Reggie’s opening talk, he pointed out Nintendo stats but without the charts from past Nintendo conferences. Reggie left the bore at home and kept it to the concept of making sure there are titles available for every type of gamer. Nintendo announced the following titles for the Wii and DS: Wii: The

E3 2010: Electronic Arts Press Conference

As it turned out, EA had one of the most impressive shows and one of the first in the line-up of big press conferences going on right now. While Microsoft had pulled everyone around in their cultist-gear for a few hours the night before, EA sat everyone down for the business talk. Giving us handfuls of games that we wanted to hear about and innovations that would set the stage for the theme of 3D all over E3 this year. Dead Space 2 Dead Space 2’s game play demo opens to Isaac Clarke waking from a coma on a massive space city known as “The Sprawl”; the lone survivor of a horrific alien infestation finds himself confronting a catastrophic new nightmare. The Necromorphs are back and even wilder than ever. Like its predecessor, it featured exquisite sound design; dark, haunting environments; and powerful lighting. Its non-traditional HUD (heads-up display) moves
