Make your own story in “Etrian Odyssey III”

Atlus have started releasing a series of video shorts for Etrian Odyssey II, out for Nintendo DS on September 21. The first one, released today, is all about the game’s storytelling. The biggest thing about it is that you pick what the story is. You do what you want. Does fishing seem like a good idea? How about a few quests, or some mapmaking? You get to decide. Everyone starts from the same point, but from there, it’s all you. Future videos will feature character creation, combat, quests, mapmaking and more, but you can watch the first one here:

“Counter-Strike: Source” gets updated for Mac play

Counter-Strike: Source just got a major update, but it’s a nice one. First off, it’s a SteamPlay title, so if you own it on a PC, you can play it on a Mac, assuming your hardware’s up to snuff. Not only that, but CSS now includes cross-platform (PC vs. Mac) online gameplay. The update also adds Steam Achievements, stats and engine updates. The stats let you know how many kills you’ve got, how many times you’ve been on the unfortunate other end of a bullet and your accuracy on each kind of weapon. As far as the Achievements go, Valve’s added over 140 of them, so good luck ever getting 100%. Other Steam features have also been added, including avatar pictures, domination icons and a Death Cam that shows just who killed you, so you know who to take out next. The best part of all this is that the

Xbox LIVE Family Plan offers up four memberships for half the price

To make an Xbox LIVE membership more palatable for families (presumably the families that just might want a Kinect), Microsoft has started offering a new Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack, so that everyone in the (four-person) family can play online, watch Netflix movies, and stream live sports via ESPN (starting in November, anyway). The membership includes four Gold accounts for the price of two, as well as special family controls via the “Family Center.” This special part of the dashboard and Xbox.com will give you access to activity monitoring as well as the ability to purchase and redistribute Microsoft Points for your family usage. If you’d prefer to just authorize purchases as they happen, you can do that as well. The membership will also give you access to special “family content.” And, in case any family in the market for a 360 didn’t know this already, Xbox has a full

Microsoft to visit Capitol Hill for a gaming night

Microsoft is teaming up with members of Congress to have a gaming night on Capitol Hill. Members of the congressional staff and their families will be rocking out to Rock Band. They’ll also be learning about other family friendly games on the Xbox 360. Kinect was not mentioned as one of the games they will be playing. The event is a great idea to inform parents about how they can monitor and be in control of what their kids are playing. “The Get Game Smart program is connecting families across the country with the tools and resources needed to teach their children how to use technology responsibly and more safely,” said Fred Humphries, Managing Director U.S. Government Affairs, Microsoft. “Tonight, we’re bringing the program’s tools and resources to our nation’s lawmakers so they can not only use them with their own families but also share them with constituents in their

Comics will be priced from $0.99 to $2.99 per issue that include Batman: Hush, Green Lantern: Rebirth, Fables: Legends in Exiles and Planetary: All Over the World and Other Stories, as well as comics that are exclusive to PlayStation Network such as Free Realms, God of War, Resistance, and Superman/Batman. Can’t wait to get caught up on Fables! “Outside of my work as a comic book creator and Co-Publisher, I’m an avid gamer,” said Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher. “Making our comics available through Sony’s PlayStation Network digital comics offers a perfect opportunity for us to reach a new, different kind of reader.” Comics can be downloaded using any wi-fi spot with the PSP. E3 2010: Majesco

Majesco Entertainment’s booth was hiding upstairs at E3, away from the glitz of the expo halls. That didn’t mean that they didn’t have anything to show us. Far from it. So we (@gamingangel and I) went on a tour. Greg Hastings Paintball 2 I’ve never seen someone so pumped about paintball. Wait, no. I dated a guy in high school who was really pumped about paintball. Lemme try that again: I’ve never seen someone so pumped about a paintball video game. Hands down, Greg Hastings was the most enthusiastic demoer I’ve ever seen. His hands were flying. His face was animated and alive. He was all smiles, joy, and genuine love for his sport (and his game). Every mechanic was true to the sport: the dodging around obstacles; the peeking out around cover to shoot paintballs at that dude who nearly took your head off with the blue paintball; the
