    Namco Releasing Flight Control for Multiple Mobile Devices

    Namco has teamed up with Firemint to bring the hit game, Flight Control to Java, Brew, Rim, Windows Mobile, and Android. Scheduled for a July release, this version of Flight Control promises the same addictive gameplay, four different airfields and 10 types of aircraft.     Hulu Plus officially coming to PlayStation 3

    Today, Hulu announced the “Hulu Plus” service, which gives you ad-supported access to several television shows’ complete back catalogues. Despite the advertising, the service will still cost $9.99, but hey – it’s cheaper than cable. And now, it looks like they’re trying to give Netflix a run for its money. Not only will Hulu Plus be available as an app to the latest range of iDevices (iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, 3rd generation iPod Touch), but to app-enabled televisions and Blu-Ray players, as well. One more Blu-Ray player is being added to the list soon, and it’s one that a lot of us have in our homes – the PlayStation 3.     VIZ Pictures Releases Battle League Horumo

    VIZ Pictures will debut the live-action combat comedy film Battle League Horumo on DVD on July 6th. VIZ Pictures also celebrates the release with a special theatrical screening of the film on Friday, July 2nd at 7:00 pm at VIZ Cinema in San Francisco. Battle League Horumo is also set to be screened at the 2010 Anime Expo, taking place July 1-4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, CA.     Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Duran Duran and more are “Heroes” today

    If you’re wanting to get your dance on this holiday weekend (well, it’s a holiday in the US, anyway), Activision has new content available today for two of their “Hero” franchises – Guitar Hero and DJ Hero. The DJ Hero Dance Party Mix Pack (640 MS Points, $7.99 on PS3) includes three new mixes: Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face” mixed with “Girls on Film” by Duran Duran Pussycat Dolls’ “Buttons” beat juggle Rihanna’s “SOS” beat juggle Each mix will be available as downloadable singles for Wii for 300 points a piece.     Marvel appoints Loeb to Head of Television

    Marvel is looking to television for some new areas of exposure. The brand new divsion for Marvel will be led by Jeph Loeb as Executive Vice President, Head of Television. Loeb will oversee live-action, animated and direct-to-dvd series. Something that DC has excelled at for years. “I couldn’t be happier to accept this new position at Marvel Entertainment, working with both Dan and Alan to deliver exciting, cutting edge television projects,” said Mr. Loeb. “Marvel continues to break new ground in storytelling in both their comic book and film ventures, so, along with everyone here, I’m excited to bring the same brand of excitement into homes across the globe.     Nintendo to host the Wii Games National Competition

    The Nintendo Wii has found it’s way into most households and families have all experienced playing some Wii titles together. Nintendo is now showing that they Nintendo Wii games aren’t just for fun, but have a competitive side as well. Nintendo is launching the first Wii Games: Summer 2010, national competition. Starting July 16 in Liberty State Park in New Jersey and ending in my home town of Los Angeles on September 3-5. Unfortunately I’ll be getting married during that time. The event is open to kids of all ages and the competition will focus on the following five activities: Basketball and Bowling in Wii Sports Resort™, the Hula Hoop® challenge from Wii Fit™ Plus, the platforming adventure of New Super Mario Bros.™ Wii and the high-speed racing thrills of Mario Kart™ Wii.     2011 Independent Games Festival open for submissions

    The 2011 Independent Games Festival is now taking submissions. The Festival awards winners at GDC 2011 in San Francisco. Entries are due by October 18th for Main categories and November 1st for Student Showcase categories. Finalists will all be announced on January 2011. There are almost $50,000 in prizes. This year there is an additional award for abstract, shortform, and “otherwise esoteric ‘art games’”. Brandon Boyer, Chairman of the IGF, said of this year’s event: “Expanding the IGF to include mobile and more artistic experiences is our way of recognizing the constantly evolving landscape of indie game development, and the advancement of the expression possible in the medium itself. I’m more excited than ever to see what the indie community creates for this year’s festival, and wish all the entrants the best of luck!” Good luck to all those that enter!
