    Cataclysm beta begins!

Well the Warcraft universe is all a twitter (literally) since the Cataclysm closed beta has begun! If you’ve registered, you may have been lucky to get a beta invite and are happily exploring the new content. But for some who weren’t lucky (or forgot to change your system settings like myself /cough) you’re just reading and refreshing various web pages to see what’s new. Then again not all of the waves of invites have gone out yet, so some may still get lucky! This of course also means that the NDA has been lifted, so I highly recommend checking out MMO Champion as all of their information is now going live again and with some updates. So I’ve been going through images and info I missed the first time around. One thing I like so far is the new druid forms. The Worgen versions remind me of metal head kids

Guest Article: Twilight Movie Marathon, Eclipse Review

Editor’s Note: Please remember that since this movie is just out now, there’s likely to be a whole lot of spoilers for those of you that are unfamiliar with the story. Last night, I spent seven and a half hours in the company of Twilight. My local movie theatre had a marathon of the first two movies before a midnight screening of Eclipse, and since I’ve never been to a marathon before, or a midnight screening, I thought what the hell…why not? I’ve heard strange tales of the cosplayers and fandom eccentricities at these sessions, and it’s something that I want to experience. The only thing that’s been stopping me is that I never have company to one of these things – I’ve been told that you need to have someone with you to watch your stuff while you run off to the bathroom/restock snacks and drinks between movies. But

Catch Up on Parts 2-5 of the “Portal 2″ Demo

On Monday, we gave you the first part of the Portal 2 E3 demo. Today, we’ve got another four parts, dealing almost exclusively with new Aperture Science technology. Part 2 deals with Excursion Funnels, which are an awesome-looking game mechanic – like a slow-moving tunnel that leads to some incredibly creative gameplay. This also marks the in-video debut of the mirrored cube. Then, we have the almost-nausea-inducing Aerial Faith Plate. If flinging made you sick…well. Thirdly, we’re introduced to Pneumatic Diversity Vents. This is essentially a really cool phrase just to say “Giant Vacuum Tube.” Lastly, the Thermal Discouragement Beam is a really cool way to cause a turret to explode. “It burns!” Yes. It does. Follow

    Celebrate 5 years of Mimoco

GamingAngels has been addicted to Mimoco for years now. I remember seeing them at SDCC thinking, what in the world? Designer USB drives? But it works! Since launching five years ago, Mimoco has created original characters, Star Wars and Hello Kitty characters. “Our fans are extremely passionate about our ‘bots, and part of bringing back the old favorites is to offer our loyal fans the MIMOBOT drives that started it all,” says founder Evan Blaustein. “Celebrating our five-year anniversary is a milestone event for us and we’re stoked for what’s in store on the MIMOBOT horizon for this and many seasons to come.” Starting today, Mimoco is re-releasing the four original limited edition Series Characters. There will also be exclusive characters at San Diego Comic Con and Star Wars Celebration. Follow

    Show serious recycling with recojeans

This makes sense to me. Worn jeans are way more comfortable that new jeans. With consumers looking at how they can be more green with their purchases, Matthew Langille has created a new line entitled MrNY. The line will hit boutiques in the fall of 2010. reco is a recycled denim company that has teamed up with Matthew Langille to create a line that combines style with eco-friendliness. Matthew describes the line as, “For me, the line is basic five jeans with little twists. My images and style come into play here and there on the buttons, rivets and inside linings. Things that I’m known for appear, like clouds, hearts, my handwriting and Denim Bear! I created a design I call “Denim Bear” which is pushing the whole collaboration forward in terms of its visual appeal. We have made a line of tees too which have the Denim Bear on

New Harry Potter Trailer Shows Dark & Twisty Side

The first trailer released for the long anticipated conclusion of the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, brings forth the darkness that the story exudes. The trio of heroes are all shown facing intense difficulties that are quite real and beyond their years. Chilling battle sequences, glimpses of fear and pain on the faces of some beloved characters, and the mass of death eaters awaiting undesirable #1 are enhanced by the literal darkness of the scenes with powerful music overlaying the cold, deliberate words of Voldemort. The trailer encompasses both parts of the Deathly Hallows films (they have split the tale into two films, which will hopefully make the representation more complete) and focuses in on the epic battle of good vs evil in Harry Potter and Voldemort. To me, the acting already seems incredible and the scenery and cinematography look amazing. The trailer definitely has raised

    Hydrophobia Makes Waves at E3

XBLA is one of those strange platforms: it either yields incredible gems or complete trash. In this case, XBLA provided the perfect ground (water?) for Dark Energy Digital’s post-apocalyptic “Hydrophobia”. “Hydrophobia” is set in the near future when the world has become massively over-populated. It takes place aboard the “Queen of the World”, a luscious city-sized ship that tours the globe and is home to the wealthy elite. As is always the case in stories like this, something goes horribly wrong and you’re plunked right into the middle of it. In the world of “Hydrophobia”, it’s become “destroy or be destroyed”. Hydrophobia features Dark Energy Digital’s “HydroEngineTM” technology – the first true fluid dynamics engine for games. “HydroEngineTM” creates flowing water in real-time; a true physics simulation with emergent behavior, the likes of which the gaming world has rarely seen in a crafted environment. On top of the brand new
