EA announces games ranging from “Alice” to “Darkspore” and an expansion for “The Sims 3″ – with video!
EA was pretty busy today, announcing not one, not two – but six titles. Thankfully, there’s video for almost all of them. Here’s a full list of today’s reveals:
- Alice: Madness Returns
- Fight Night Champion
- The Sims 3: Late Night
- Darkspore
- EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
A couple of these are genuine surprises. But – let’s go through them one by one, shall we?
First, we’ll start with the sequel to American McGee’s Alice – Alice: Madness Returns.
Basically, Alice has been let out of the asylum, 11 years after being admitted. Her Wonderland hallucinations have continued, and evil is approaching her fantasy land, but she has to go back to save Wonderland – and herself. For more, visit the game’s official site. This won’t hit shelves until 2011, so I hope we get new reveals the whole way.
Next, check out Fight Night Champion. It’s another Fight Night game. Why “Champion”? Apparently, since there are only 12 rounds in a fight, they thought they’d have to make the change someday. That someday comes in 2011 (like a few of these games).
And here’s The Sims 3: Late Night. It’s pretty similar to other nightclub-esque expansions, so I’ll just let the video speak for itself.
So, there you have it. Hot tubs, nightclubs, muscle shirts, bartending, and of course – a few bar brawls. This basically amounts to buying some of the same content that you already have for other Sims games, except this time it’s for The Sims 3. This will be out in the fall.

EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp is EA Sports Active for the football-loving men in your life. Or at least people who want to pretend they’re at an NFL Training Camp. You’ll perform the same kinds of athletic drills as NFL players, except you have to hold a Wiimote while you do it. They probably don’t have to. This will be available Nov. 16.
Darkspore, on the other hand, comes from Maxis, makers of The Sims and the original “Spore” game. So far, it’s a PC-only title with both four-player co-op and a single-player campaign. You’ll battle aliens to save the galaxy from the malicious Darkspore, and you’ll need to collect an army of living creatures to do it. Sort of like Pokémon. We’ll have to wait until 2011 to get this in our hands.

Finally, we have Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. We previously knew this under the title “Project Mercury,” so knowing what it finally is brings relief to whomever was worrying about it, I’m sure. There’s a lot of star power behind the game – R.A. Salvatore created the game’s fantasy world, Todd Macfarlane designed it, and Ken Rolston (previously responsible for Morrowind and Oblivion) is leading the development. Not to mention that 38 Studios is owned by Curt Schilling (a baseball player, if you’re not in the know).
Kingdoms of Amalur is a single-player RPG where you’ll be exploring the mysteries of Amalur. The game will get a more official debut this Thursday at San Diego Comic Con, in the first ever public discussion of the game. The game’s trailer will also be shown for the first time at this event, which takes place in room 6A from 1:15-2:15 p.m.
