Xbox 360′s wireless controller goes 2.0

A brand-new Xbox 360 controller featuring an adjustable D-pad is on the way in November. Major Nelson made the announcement this morning, accompanied by a YouTube video, reposted below. Not only does the whole thing feature a pretty slick color change and monochromatic buttons, but the super-shiny D-pad raises and lowers to make it either incredibly clicky or practically nonexistent. The new controller will be packaged with new Play and Charge kits starting November 9 in the U.S. for $64.99. (Sorry, Europe – you’re waiting ’til February.) Almost makes you forget about that Xbox LIVE price hike, doesn’t it? I won’t fault Major Nelson – the comments he’s getting today have to be ten times better than what he got yesterday.

Get extra “Enslaved: Odyssey to the West” goodies…but only if you order now

You’ve got a limited time to take part in a special bonus for new pre-orders of Ninja Theory’s Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Starting today, the game has completely taken over YouTube, with promotional branding all over the place. If you want special stuff to download (like screenshots and wallpaper in addition to the videos – it is YouTube, after all), that’s one place you’ve got to visit today. All of that also serves to publicize this special deal. Pre-order buttons take you to this page at GameStop.com, and that’s where the special stuff comes into play. Normally, when you pre-order the game, you get a special DLC bonus, but not today. If you pre-order through the aforementioned link, you get a limited edition T-shirt in addition to a special edition Enslaved comic book (which is different from the ones handed out at San Diego Comic-Con). That’s roughly $20 of

Tech Angels 101: Top Apps for Back to School

I wish while I was doing my undergraduate degrees I could look across the travel at my study partner and say “Google that would you?” or even better, “I’m sure there is an app for that!” Well, I figured I would give all you studious gadget friends a head start on the apps that will get you ready for school. All links to the apps are placed linked via the title. iStudiez Pro An app for organizing your schedule, assignments, lab and other important educational information. Great for students in high school, university or college. Currently this is the number one app in the education section of the app store. The only downside is the 2.99 price tag, and the fact that there is no free version. Though this is the case it is still hailed as a wonderful app for students. MyHomework This app is similar to iStudiez Pro

Gamania announces eight online games for TGS

If you’re looking out for something new to play at the Tokyo Game Show in a couple of weeks, chances are that Gamania is going to have something to pique your interest – they’ve got eight titles on tap for the show. Not only will Gamania have one of the largest booths (they’re actually in the top ten), but they’ll also be debuting an impressive collaboration with Firedog Studio in Hong Kong, their first-ever attempt at globalization. (Gamania is a Taiwanese company, if you didn’t know.) The eight games they’re showing off were all created completely in-house, and they’re all also online games. Project CORE is an Unreal 3 engine game that is most likely coming out in 2011 as their signature game for the year. Reign of Assassins is a movie tie-in for a Chinese film of the same name. Divina, a Japanese-style fantasy game, features the vocal talents
