Draw with your Wii – And no, you won’t have to waggle your Wiimote

This, my friends, is the uDraw Tablet. Designed to go with THQ’s special “uDraw” line of games, you just plug in your Wiimote there on the side and get to drawing. Too bad this little sucker, priced at $70, won’t function as an actual graphics tablet for those so inclined, but with games like Pictionary on the way, really, who needs a stupid Vitality Sensor when you can get something like this from a third party? Hats off to THQ for making a Wii accessory that looks pretty cool, even if it is supposed to be for kids in elementary school. A trailer for the device and uDraw Studio is below. Computer and Video Game degree programs grow across US

It was not that long ago that it was difficult to find a college that had a dedicated video game degree program. Choices left were dedicated, private schools. But according to the latest ESA research, 300 American colleges, universities and art schools will offer degrees in video game design, development, and art during 2010-2011. The increase is almost 20 percent more than just last year! “The steady increase in higher education programs is an important indicator about the expanding role computer and video games play in today’s world,” said Mr. Taylor. “While computer and video games have been a source of entertainment for decades, our society is increasingly recognizing the broader uses of games and their positive impact. Whether it is in healthcare, education, business or government, schools across the country see the value of games and are training their students to meet the demand.” New programs this year include

At Sony’s press conference at Gamescom 2010 in Cologne, Germany, they announced a few things specific to European audiences, but others that might just make the whole world squee with joy. The PlayStation Slim has apparently spurred a great amount of console purchases, and two new models of the PS3 coming to Europe will offer larger hard drives. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and EA have announced at GamesCom that they are enabling an exclusive Kinect experience with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Your hands will be able to wield magic with the first dark Harry Potter game. “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 is non-stop action with Harry defending himself against a host of menacing enemies,” said Jonathan Bunney, Vice President and Head of Production at EA Bright Light Studios. “Our Kinect challenges allow players to literally cast magic from the palm of their hand, completely controller free, to enhance and deepen the overall play experience; and, even better, we have enabled a special co-op mode with Kinect allowing two people to fight Death Eaters side-by-side for the first time in any Harry Potter game.” Yes, I’ll be playing complete in my Hogwarts costume. Criminal Minds is Going Seek and Find

Legacy Interactive has announced the development of a hidden object form of the intriguing CBS television series (and one of my mom’s favorite shows) Criminal Minds. With some of the darker storylines on TV, it will be interesting how the mood of the show will translate into an interactive experience. The game will feature brand new stories that stay true to the show’s nature and is slated to be released on PC and Mac later this year. Here’s a peek at the “developer diary” by game producer Ryan Modjeski. (August 17, 2010) – I admit it. I was late to the game. I never really started watching the Criminal Minds TV series until about a year ago when I caught a marathon of episodes late at night. I couldn’t tear myself away! Each episode was captivatingly creepy and refreshingly different from the vast majority of the other “cop” shows on
