    Section23 Films announces November Slate

Section23 Films announced its NOVEMBER slate of releases, including Xam’d Collection 2, which will be released on DVD and Blu Ray, from Section23 client Sentai Filmworks. Their lineup will be as follows; Utakata Collection 1 Before you make a deal with a girl in a mirror, reflect seriously on the source of the offer. Ichika Tachibana fails to take this advice in order to retrieve a lost charm, and as a result suddenly ends up with the magical forces of a Djinn at her command. Sounds like a good deal, right? Wrong. At first things seem wondrous, with her new friend Manatsu assisting her via text messages and the occasional spell; but as her powers grow, Ichika’s situation quickly goes from magical to nightmarish, and she finds herself drawn into an ever expanding web of deceptions, lies and increasingly dangerous situations. For what she’s really done is subjected herself to

Ever thought you could make a better bus route? “Cities in Motion” lets you try

In 2011, Paradox’s transport-sim “Cities in Motion” lets you decide how public transportation is going to work. Those of us who have ever had to use public transportation have definitely had those thoughts that weren’t a lot more than, “If I ran this thing, it would always be on time.” Well, now you get the chance. It’s more than just Railroad Tycoon – it’s more like Bus Tycoon, Tram Tycoon, Helicopter Tycoon, Subway Tycoon….really, I could go on. There’s 100 years worth of transportation history in there, along with 12 campaigns that challenge you to keep a system going with no delays or cancellations and all the happy customers you can handle. Oh yeah, and you have to be profitable. It’s like balancing the Federal budget, but it goes vroom. You’ll be building across Europe in four eras between 1920 and 2020, making deals with contractors and following the economy.

Virgin Gaming to be a key sponsor of London Games Conference

Richard Branson’s latest project, Virgin Gaming, is a key sponsor of this year’s London Games Conference, titled “Survival and Profit in a Changing Industry.” This year’s event, which takes place on November 4 at BAFTA, focuses on shifts in revenue streams – it’s not all about disc-based games anymore. Digital distribution, online multiplayer, gaming in the cloud and social networks are what’s hip. (Unless you’re Sony, and then you’re really pushing that 3D.) In addition to a one-day conference, there’s also a dinner, where there are expected to be 200 important gaming industry folks. In addition, former MTV Games exec Chris Meredith is apparently the executive vice president of Virgin Gaming, which was unveiled at E3 back in June. They expect to launch in the UK and Europe before the winter holidays. London Games Conference has IGN UK as a Platinum Sponsor, with InComm and The Hut for partners.

Activision and Blitz have reached out with public statements that they may have positions for Realtime Worlds employees. Which should help with some of the worry and stress that they may be going through. Activision has already flown out HR Specialists and will be conducting interviews Friday for their UK office. “It is always disappointing to hear about the difficulties faced by development studios. It is our duty to support the industry and try to provide some assistance and opportunity to those talented staff affected by job losses. Activision is at a very exciting time, they have a wonderful network of talented studios in the UK and overseas. They can provide a secure option and the opportunity to work on some amazing games,” said

Sine Mora Announced as First Title From Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality Partnership

Grasshopper Manufacture, Inc. (the studio behind the No More Heroes franchise) and Digital Reality (Hungarian game studio with a penchant for tanks and war-games) are teaming up. At Gamescom 2010, the studios announced that they will be parterning up for co-developing a new line-up of games. Their first collaboration, Sine Mora, will mix traditional side-scrolling gameplay with “unique time manipulation mechanics”. Not sure what the latter half means but I really do enjoy a good rip in the space-time continuum. Colour me intrigued. Sine Mora will be released on both PSN and XBLA.
