I wish while I was doing my undergraduate degrees I could look across the travel at my study partner and say “Google that would you?” or even better, “I’m sure there is an app for that!” Well, I figured I would give all you studious gadget friends a head start on the apps that will get you ready for school. All links to the apps are placed linked via the
title.
An app for organizing your schedule, assignments, lab and other important educational information. Great for students in high school, university or college. Currently this is the number one app in the education section of the app store. The only downside is the 2.99 price tag, and the fact that there is no free version. Though this is the case it is still hailed as a wonderful app for students.
This app is similar to iStudiez Pro with a different visual appeal, design and price tag. The MyHomework app is a free app to get yourself organized. The design doesn’t have as many features as the iStudiez Pro, but it will serve the same function and is a little simpler for those in High School. This is a wonderful free app for students.
As I say to all my students, the dictionary is your friend, use it! With a price tag of free, Dictionary.com has created an app that will let you look up spelling and definitions to many of those big words you forgot about in high school. This is a must have for any students writing papers, lab reports or just plain writing.
For all you that will be heading into the explosive world of chemistry this year, there is even an app for you. Chemical Touch Lite is a free app that lets you see the periodic table of elements, including mass, number and many other important information on elements such as Gold. Though it it very simple in design it is perfect in concept. you just touch on an element to get the information.
National Geographic World Altas HD
Anyone working in Geography needs an Altas. Who would have thought that you can use you new iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch as an Altas. It’s a full-coloured resource for those looking at maps and learning the trade. Of course, you’ll also be able to learn your longitude and latitude!
This .99 cent app can be what every student, who is moving away from home, needs to keep track of all their personal finances. Right now, the app does have a little issue with crashing that should be fixed very soon. However, it is still a very visual way to keep track of your bills, by color coding them and being able to file them into paid, due and other. Hopefully, this will stop you from calling home to ask for pizza money.
This free app helps you get to know the restaurants in your new area of residence based on the price, type and area. This way you can find that little hole in the wall coffee shop, the cheap food joint or even a nice place to take that special someone on a date. Plus, you can find reviews for each place and see if there was anything wrong with the restaurant before being blindsided.
If you’re worried about the freshmen 15, those 15 pounds freshmen put on because of all the french fries, pasta, and let’s be honest, beer, that was consumed during your first year of post secondary. Well, with MyFitnessPal, a free app, you can track and add your own food diary. The great thing is, you can look up food from popular restaurants and add them to your diary. That way you can attempt to maintain your weight while you are away. Also, you can track your fitness progress.
