This is Wii-diculous: Wii console sales hit 30 million
Tweet
Hear that, people? You love the Wii. Or at least you own one – the console’s hit 30 million units sold in the United States alone. That’s just a little bit under 10% of the entire population of the United States – has any other home game console ever had that kind of saturation, this fast?
Not according to Nintendo – apparently, it took Sony’s PlayStation 2 fifteen more months to hit that milestone. They seem pretty confident that the sales won’t stop, either, adding a list of games coming for the fall that might sell even more consoles – Metroid: Other M (Aug. 31), Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Wii Party, and several third-party titles, including Epic Mickey. They’re really hoping to add to their list of “evergreen” titles that keep the consoles selling like hotcakes.
But is there a point of too much saturation? Do you know anyone who is still planning to buy a Wii?
