Uncharted team adds more to “ModNation Racers,” region locks removed

It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of ModNation Racers, but the Uncharted series scores high on my personal favorites list, as well. Today, the two Sony exclusives mesh just a little bit more, because a couple members of the team over at Naughty Dog took an extended spin with MNR. The result? A new Sully Mod, and a track inspired by the game. Best news of all? Looks like they’re free, and you can find them on the ArtistSpotlight1 account. And if you didn’t get in on the Nathan Drake kart and Mod, you can complete the trifecta and pick those up for $1.99 in the PlayStation Store, if you so desire. The latest game update brings a oft-requested feature to the game, as well. A removal of the game’s region locks means that it’s time to start racing with friends worldwide, in both casual and XP races.

Shawn Johnson wants you to give your Wii Balance Board a workout

Zoo Entertainment announced today that Shawn Johnson Gymnastics is coming to the Wii and DS this fall. The game features the tiny athlete’s voice and the ability to handle up to eight budding gymnasts. You’ll work your way up the ladder from amateur to champion as you learn the ropes of four gymnastics events: Uneven bars, balance beam, floor exercises, and vaulting. (The male-specific events don’t appear to be included; sorry, boys.) A choreography editor allows you to plan out your routines before you perform them, too. The performing part sounds the best so far on the Wii version – you use the Wiimote and Nunchuk to perform appropriate arm movements, and the Balance Board tracks your lower-body movements. The DS isn’t nearly so involved – you’ll just draw patterns on the screen to perform moves. Great to see another game using the Balance Board – mine’s been gathering dust.

“LittleBigPlanet 2″ delayed to January 2011

A note from Media Molecule this morning noted that they’ve made the decision to delay the release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally due out this November. The letter to fans stated that “[w]e’ve all been working like powered-up space ninjas and we’re almost there, but because we love what we’ve made, and we love our little sack-friends, and most of all we love our fans out there, we couldn’t let you all get together until we know we were giving you the best experience imaginable. Which is why we’ve taken the hard decision to delay the worldwide release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally slated for later this year to January 2011.” But all hope is not lost. They’ll definitely be taking the time to make the game better, whatever they’re doing, and the note ended with a promise: “[W]e are going to find a way to give more of you a taste

Mousechief announces new game arcada mia

Mousechief, Co is one of my favorite indie companies. In the past they released, “Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble!” and now they are coming back with a new title. This time they are pushing the envelope on what is considered to be a casual game. Mousechief is promising to push the envelope when it comes to storytelling in casual games. “In ‘arcada mia’ story emerges from play like a monument emerging from bricks which emerged from clay and straw. Your tactics set up little stories. Choose ways to resolve them like a mason sorting bricks to build the monument of your family legend. In turn, stories reward or challenge. They influence tactics.” So what is the game? Well Mousechief sends over the following as a description as to what their game isn’t: We tried relating ‘arcada mia’ to earlier works. The natural assumption has been, “Oh, it’s that kind

Pokemon Black and White sell well in Japan

The force with Pokemon is very strong. Pokemon Black and White both launched in Japan for the Nintendo DS last week and made it the fastest selling DS game in Japan. Pokemon Black and Pokemon White beat out all DS games by selling 1.88 million units in Japan for pre-sale and then after the first week managed to total 2.55 million. Pokemon White and Pokemon Black do promise new Pokemon characters which can be quite a draw for those of us that are addicted to catching them all. Internationally, we’ll have to wait until Spring 2011 for both versions to come out. Follow
