“Battle vs. Chess” trailer shows off hardcore strategy in a familiar place

By: Tiffany Nevin

SouthPeak’s Battle vs. Chess takes the classic game that people have been playing for centuries and adds more drama than little black and white knights, kings and rooks could ever have on their own.

Not only that, but it turns some parts of the game on its head. In the Battle Modes, you’ll throw out the usual concept of taking another piece’s square and engage in combat to the death, instead. (This is great for someone like me, because I’m positively miserable at chess, and it’ll make it a lot more palatable to play my husband, the ChessMaster of the house.)

Of course, if you’re only up for playing the computer, the game uses the famous “Fritz11!” chess software to ensure that you’ll have a competent opponent every time.

We’ve got the debut trailer below.
