    Experience Star Wars in 3D

Think you have seen Star Wars every way you can? Know every line inside out? Lucasfilm has announced a new way for you to experience Star Wars. The Star Wars Saga will be converted to 3D.

Lucasfilm will be starting with the series in numerical order starting with Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace set to be released theatrically in 2012.

“Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right,” said John Knoll, Visual Effects Supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic. “It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful. It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results. For Star Wars we will take our time, applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences a fantastic new Star Wars experience.”

I would have preferred to start with episode 4. What do you think about Star Wars in 3D?

Geez, I love Star Wars and consider myself a non obsessive fan type of the series. But, I'm sick and tired of all the movies going to 3D, and charging an extra high price for the glasses to view them. How much does it really cost to make them? Does it cost twenty five cents? A few movies would be cool to see in 3D, like action movies, and sci-fi movies. Now, they are making movies that shouldn't be in 3D, like computer animated cartoons, romantic comedies, and a movie about cooking. Okay, I exaggerated the last two, but seriously it's getting ridiculous. I should be able to have a choice to see the movie not in 3D if I want. It's the movie companies trying to gouge out every last cent from the movie going public. Although, Star Wars would be pretty cool to see in 3D, it is a movie that deserves to be put in 3D. Sorry about the small rant and going a bit off topic slightly. I will go see Star Wars in 3D most likely. I think they should slow down in putting every movie in 3D, or at least be more smart about it and give the 3D treatment to the movies that would be more appropriate for it to be in 3D.

I'm totally with you on this. I really don't like 3D in general, and I'm tired of the hype it's getting. I think 3D is being WAY overdone.
