Sony “moves” over four million units – to stores

It’s only been two months, but Sony reported today that their PlayStation Move motion controller has already sold over 4.1 million units in North America, Europe and Asia. However, it’s pretty easy to lie with numbers (as someone who loved stats class, I feel like this gives me at least a tiny bit of authority on that fact). And while Sony hasn’t quite lied to us here, they did leave out one little fact – the 4.1 million doesn’t represent the number of controllers in the hands of consumers, but instead the number that has gotten shipped to stores. Oh. Not really as impressive when you look at it that way. Engadget also did a little bit of digging and found that 75% of these numbers can be attributed to bundles (the Sports Champions/Eyepet bundles or the console bundles). Sony also apparently told Joystiq that they’re really only supplying the

Photography is coming back to the Dead Rising series in “Case West”

Frank West is back, and so is his camera, in the Xbox 360-exclusive DLC for Dead Rising 2, “Case West.” (This content staying exclusive is pretty unlikely, since it’s probably just one of those “timed” deals, so don’t worry – there’s even a list stating that it’ll be out for Xbox 360 and another, “to be determined” console, and there’s really only one option for that.) So it’s time to take more pictures – even in co-op – whether you’re playing as Frank or Chuck. You’re tasked with investigating the Phenotrans facility in Fortune City in an attempt to link them to the zombie outbreak. You’ll face new enemies with new weapons and you get the choice of saving more survivors. The camera comes into play because you’ll be taking pictures of evidence, though I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to take more crazy photos of zombies. Did you miss the

It shouldn’t exist, but your kids might want it anyway – a game based on “Silly Bandz”

When a mommy and daddy love each other very much…wait, that’s the start of another story. This one begins in a slightly different way. When a bunch of kids love something very, very much – it becomes a fad. (See: Tickle Me Elmo, Furby, Zhu Zhu Pets and so on.) This love, if it lasts long enough to reach the holiday season, may result in a beautiful baby a very-possibly-horrific game. Well, it’s horrific to the adults, anyway. (The kids eat it up for a week and then it gets lost in the bottom of a toy pile, I can only assume. At least that’s what happened with me.) And so, this holiday season, we have a game based on Silly Bandz, which is available today. If you’re among the uninitiated, Silly Bandz are shaped rubber bands. You can stretch them out to put them on your wrist, but when

Mickey Mouse goes “Epic” today, and soon, so will we

Today is a pretty big day for Mickey Mouse – Disney Interactive Studios and Junction Point are officially releasing Disney Epic Mickey today. It all got started this morning in Times Square, where fans at the newly-opened Disney Store got the first shot at buying the game, as well as meeting designer Warren Spector, who offered up this quote about the work they’re put into the title: “We have poured our hearts, souls, and collective imaginations into a game that honors not only one of the most iconic characters on the planet, but Mickey Mouse’s creator–Walt Disney. Disney Epic Mickey is really about two epic journeys: an adventurous, heroic mouse and the creative genius behind him.” If you want to see if that work has paid off, we’ll have an opportunity for you to win a copy of the game coming up soon. Stay tuned to GamingAngels to find out

Lady Gaga and stars quit Twitter for Charity

Social Media causes some very interesting debates. Do we share too much as a society? Are people hiding behind the avatar? Do we tweet too much, too often? Stars use their social media sites to help their audience feel closer to them. Get to know who they are and what their thoughts are. Growing up, I would join a fanclub for the band Ioved. Now fans “like” a page and feel like they are part of that star’s world. Yesterday, Lady Gaga along with other stars like Usher, and Ryan Seacrest are quitting Twitter and Facebook for a cause. The cause is Alicia Keys’ charity, Keep a Child Alive. The charity helps families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. The goal is to quit social networking until people donate $1 million. On one hand, many people may enjoy the silence of the streams of these stars. The internet is

Lifetime pass to Long Beach Comic Con

Long Beach Comic Con 2010 just passed by and they have started planning for the 2011 show. Next year’s dates are October 29 and 30th. In an effort to build, they are offering Lifetime Passes for $299. For $299, con goers will get a Lifetime Pass with a LBCC lanyard, a copy of Marvel comic Ultimate Thor #1 with the J. Scott Campbell cover. The first 25 people will get a signed Bruce Boxleitner authentic photograph. Purchase the tickets here. I think it’s a bit pricey, but it does buy you into a con for life. New in-game pets available to buy in the Blizzard Store

Just in time for the holidays, Blizzard has put two new pets in their store for players to buy as in-game companions! Lil Ragnaros and the Moonkin Hatchling are the two newest pets to enter the store. Last year was the first time that Blizzard branched out into selling in-game items and it’s proved a success with the very first two pets (Lil KT and the Pandaren Monk) that they’ve released subsequent pets and even a mount! As mentioned in our MMORPG holiday guide, these in-game pets would make great presents for the WoW player in your life, and they’re reasonably priced at $10! The only drawback is that the Moonkin Hatchling will change it’s look based on what faction your character is on. Meaning if you’re Horde you can’t run around with an Alliance Hatchling or vice versa. Now to only hope that they put out a Lil Marrowgar

    Sanrio Small Gift LA

To celebrate 50 years of Sanrio, they decided to tour America with their Small Gift Pop Up Shops. I visited their Los Angeles stop but you can still catch the stops in Atlanta and Miami. Find all the information here about the events. If you are unable to make those locations, you can still purchase some of the special anniversary items on the Sanrio website here. There was a sweater at the shop in LA that I really wanted but they ran out in my size. So I was told to watch the Sanrio website because they will be adding exclusive items weekly. Which means there is still a chance I can get my hands on that awesome sweatshirt. The event itself was amazing. Every Hello Kitty fan would have lost it just walking in! It was Sanrio paradise. In the middle of the hanger was a indoor minature golf
