“Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood” nets free PS3 DLC

If you’re looking forward to Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and you haven’t already decided to order it for PlayStation 3 (assuming you have the option), this might just sway you. Today, Ubisoft announced via PlayStation.Blog that the PS3 will be getting additional single-player content on the game’s date of release, November 16. This content focuses on Nicolaus Copernicus, and he’ll have some extra courier, assassination and protection missions available for our hero, Ezio. His part of the storyline revolves around the controversy surrounding his heliocentric theories (AKA, the idea that the Earth revolves around the Sun). PS3 users are getting more with this game right off the bat. How does that make 360 gamers feel? Follow

“Ōkamiden” coming March 2011, pre-order items already detailed

Capcom announced today that Ōkamiden, the DS successor to Ōkami, will be out March 15, 2011. Naturally, the GameStop pre-order items have already been announced, and they’ll supposedly be limited edition, with only 20,000 available. First up, there’s a stylish stylus in the shape of a paintbrush, which makes sense, since you’ll be doing a lot of “painting” in the game. A screen cleaning cloth with artwork of Chibiterasu is also up for grabs if you pre-order. Nice, especially compared to some DLC that everyone can buy eventually anyway. Capcom have also announced a contest to be held through their Goblin Mask app on Facebook, which you can access here. Prizes include a Nintendo 3DS (which should be out that month), copies of the game, plush versions of Chibiterasu and other prizes. I’ll definitely be giving that one a try – the 3DS prize is worth it. Follow

“NBA 2K11″ adding 3D for PS3 at Best Buy in two weeks

NBA 2K11 is already pretty lifelike for a basketball game, and sports games are where being realistic is appreciated by fans. It’s going to be taking another step out of your television when a free PS3 update for the game adds the ability to play in 3D. “The authentic broadcast presentation of NBA 2K11 is something we’re really proud of,” said Greg Thomas, president of product development for 2K Sports. “The new 3D capabilities literally add a new dimension to the experience and provide a level of immersion that has never been experienced in a basketball video game.” Unfortunately, the initial rollout is only at Best Buy locations, so you may have to relocate your plans for a 3D NBA Finals. The downloadable game upgrade for home gamers won’t come until January 2011, but it will be free. For more information, visit www.2ksports.com/nba2k11. Follow

Jennifer Mercurio: She’s geeky, she’s a gamer and she’s fighting for us

If you haven’t figured it out yet, today is a very big deal for gamers in the United States, especially those of us who enjoy a little violence in our games. It’s not just Election Day – the Supreme Court of the United States is hearing The State of California vs. The Entertainment Merchants Association and Entertainment Software Association, and essentially deciding whether or not a large fine can be given to merchants who sell violent games to minors in California. Sure, “it’s just one state,” and “they’re just keeping violent games away from kids, what’s the harm in that?” You might not realize that there are a lot of problems with the law, and if it’s allowed to stand…well, the future of video games as an entertainment medium gets a lot bleaker. That’s why I’m glad we’ve got Jennifer (or “Jenn”) Mercurio on our side. A self-described “geeky smart

    Gadget Holiday Guide

iPad Price: $549-$879 First, let’s start with the big ticket item for this year’s guide: the Apple iPad. As many of you know, this wonderful piece of technology is great for any person that loves their technology.  This little “do-it-all” is great for travel with wifi or 3G connection, the business person that needs to stay informed with their apps, or even for a student to take notes or work on assignments on the move.  The great thing about the iPad is the fact that it can be used as an e-reader with the help of many applications and can also be used for playing games. The iPad comes in a number of gigabit sizes ranging from 16GB up to a 64GB. The price of the iPad is determined by gigabyte size as well as the connection function. The cheaper versions of the iPad only have wifi connectibility, while the
