So, what do you think about Kinect so far?

Yeah, yeah – it’s only been out a day, but with pre-orders selling out early and throngs of people in Times Square last night (where Microsoft turned everything into a giant dance party if you believe the photo over there, which you should), there’s a chance that you’ve gotten to play with Microsoft’s Kinect already. If you’re skeptical, that’s fine. If you’re still on the fence, that’s fine, too. Soon enough, you’ll probably get a chance to make up your mind, since Microsoft’s spent a ton of money on advertising for the not-so-tiny motion-sensing camera. Right now, there are only 12 games available for the device, including what many consider to be a runaway hit from Harmonix – Dance Central. That one-player game features a ton of popular songs and might even give you some rhythm (rhythm not guaranteed). Here’s its debut trailer: Video Games | Dance Central | Hammer

    Atlus reveals “The Cursed Crusade”

Today, Atlus announced The Cursed Crusade, an action-adventure game in development with Kylotonn Entertainment. The title is set at the end of the 12th century in Europe, and it tells the story of warriors fighting to save their souls. It features both online and local co-op on Xbox 360 and PS3, and it is scheduled for release in Summer 2011. “A story of salvation and survival, The Cursed Crusade brings to life the mystery and allure of the Middle Ages,” said Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales. “The game’s main characters are not heroes; they’re just men, susceptible to temptation, easily made to feel doubt and despair. The raw, gritty accuracy of many of the game’s historical locations is sharply contrasted by Denz and Esteban’s supernatural struggle to save their souls.  Their affliction, the Templar’s Curse, threatens to accelerate their descent into hell, burning their humanity away as it engulfs the space around

Should I KINECT with it or not?

That’s the question I have right now.  Kinect is the new camera-slash-voice command-slash-controller-slash-thing-that-will-sit-on-top-your-TV-next-to-the-Wii-bar-slash-addition to the growing Xbox family.  The point of Kinect is to eliminate the use of controllers for some games and make it “easier” to navigate through the menus.  It promotes movement and  a short array of sport/activity games is available at release. MSRP is $149.99. Why do you see Kinect everywhere you look?  Well, Microsoft is dumping a ton of money into Kinect and Windows 7 mobile advertising; word on the street is north of 500 million on each.  If you think that after 11/3/10 you won’t hear much about Kinect, you are mistaken.  Kinect marketing will be in shows like “Glee” and “Dancing with the Stars.”  It doesn’t stop there, there are cross promotions with Kellogg’s and Burger King, as well as buyouts of the front page of YouTube.  No matter where you are, Kinect will
