FUNimation titles now offered through PlaySpan

FUNimation has great streaming at their site, but now will also include an anime channel on PlaySpan’s marketplace. Yes, the monetizing game service for virtual worlds is now selling premium anime shows.

“We are thrilled to offer the millions of ready-to-spend gamers who visit PlaySpan Marketplace the opportunity to sample and stream FUNimation’s extremely compelling entertainment. The PlaySpan pay-per-view technology featured on PSM can be quickly integrated into any video player and major media companies are flocking to our platform to generate new revenue streams,” said Karl Mehta, CEO, PlaySpan.

FUNimation programming on PlaySpan Marketplace includes items like Devil May Cry, Air Gear, Baccano!, Darker than Black, Gunslinger Girl (a personal fave), Negima! Shuffle and Soul Eater.

The first minute preview is free, but after that streaming will be $.99.

“We’re very excited to be featured in PlaySpan Marketplace as it allows us to extend our reach to an online gaming audience and experiment with pay-per-view streaming in a cinematic setting,” said Brandon White, Director, Marketing & Business Development, FUNimation Entertainment.

You can find the videos here. Hopefully this doesn’t mean an end to the FUNimation streaming on their website. I’ll send an email for an official comment today.

I usually watch anime on Anilinkz or GoodAnime, for free, because free subs on free sites are usually a lot better than english official subs or dubs, plus they aren't cansored

I've never heard of this site, and I've also never been a huge fan of anime, so I can't speak on legitimacy of the undertaking (but if GamingAngel is behind it, I am too!).

But the anime version of Street Fighter and of course the Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z series are on my all-time favorite list.

Great news! Confirmation from FUNimation that they will continue to support their video service!
