“A World of Keflings” kicks off Microsoft’s Games for the Holidays

Every holiday is leading to a promotion on Xbox LIVE Arcade these days. Since it’s almost time for winter holidays, it’s definitely time for another string of special releases! This season, NinjaBee’s A World of Keflings kicks of the downloadtacular on December 22 for 800 MSP. The next week, we can get Raskulls, followed by ilomilo. This time, it’s not as simple as a minor rebate for buying all three – the titles are interconnected. Earn achievements in one, get content in another, for instance. Characters cross over, as do their clothes in some instances. It’s generally pretty neat, and it’s something that I haven’t seen before. Buying A World of Keflings also gets you early access to the other two games, for sale within the game itself. (But hey, if you want to wait and check out something else first, the same option  is available in each game.) “Something

OnLive’s PlayPack gives you instant games on your computer or TV

We normally pay to play games – but it’s only one at a time, or we have to wait for them to show up in the mail. But OnLive’s got another plan called PlayPack, and it’s available to OnLive Game System owners now as a beta (the MicroConsole bundles for HDTVs are shipping now, by the way) and all OnLive users on January 15. PlayPack lets you stream your games, kind of like Netflix, for a flat $9.99 per month. If you’re not into paying a recurring monthly fee, that’s fine – the service will continue to offer free trials, as well as 3- and 5-day rentals and à la carte PlayPass “purchases” which are guaranteed for three years. “OnLive’s PlayPass and PlayPack plans give players maximum flexibility to try or buy video games,” said Michael Pachter, Managing Director, Equity Research Wedbush Securities. “Top-tier titles are available as individual rentals

Say hello to Simon Pegg as Con-rad in EA’s “Spare Parts”

It’s nothing like Shaun of the Dead, but when EA Bright Light’s Spare Parts launches this winter, the two will have one person in common, and his name is Simon Pegg. Pegg, who previously starred in Shaun as well as Hot Fuzz, talks about gaming’s evolution, art style and playing local co-op in this video clip released by EA this morning. In Spare Parts, Pegg portrays Con-rad, a supercomputer tasked with guiding two robots, Mar-T and Chip, around a strange planet. The game requires co-op gameplay (and you can do this online if you’re alone, so don’t worry) to repair a spaceship and battle off what seems to include an awful lot of evil monkeys. The clip is below – enjoy your first taste of Con-rad. Hopefully he’ll live up to the “rad” in his name.

The world of OZ is going virtual in order to reach out to a younger generation. “Adventures in Oz” is a multi-level world that will guide kids through adventures in the lands of Oz. The ideas are based on the spin-off series by Roger Stanton Baum. But will still run into characters that are familiar like Dorothy, Toto, Tin Man, Lion and Scarecrow. “Oz is a magical, established location that children, adults and families alike have appreciated for decades through a wide array of wonderful, timeless movies and books,” expressed Transmedia Producer, James Jones, “’Adventure in Oz’ is being carefully designed and structured, along with an array of interactive media, to allow something for truly every type, background, and age of user to enjoy as they virtually explore familiar and new corners of the irresistible, quintessentially classic, and always surprising land that is Oz.” Summertime Entertainment is producing the virtual
