    Games are Good for You

Video games are starting to redeem their image. At one time video gamers were stereo typed as overweight and male only. But in recent years since the Wii and now with Move and Kinect out there there is an up-off-the-couch revolution going on in living rooms. Earlier in 2010 the industry suffered from plenty of bad press as a Stanford University study of World of Warcraft and Second Life concluded that the hyper sexualized characters and the scantily clad clothing perpetuated rape consciousness. They went on to say that their findings also made the gamers tested agree that women wearing promiscuous clothing should expect to be assaulted. This week in Arlington, Va. the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reveals that they believe fitness technologies are going to help consumers stay motivated and keep their new years resolutions. The study called Getting Fit With Consumer Electronics showed half of U.S. online consumers

New Nightfall card – Enraged Wight

We have a new preview from the folks at Nightfall. The next card for preview is the Enraged Wight. This was actually voted on by fans of the Nightfall facebook page. So here is the breakdown of the Enraged Wight card. He looks pretty angry! “Enraged Wight is interestingly enough the only ghoul minion in the base set! There is an action that features ghouls, but as of yet ghoul activity isn’t as widespread as that of the vampires and werewolves, but one might expect that to change as expansions release… Enraged Wight  is another of the starter deck cards and as such only links to his own color, and features a self-removal trait and the chain effect to inflict a direct 1 damage straight to your opponent. He has two strength, more than Charlotte did, which can also damage the opponent if he gets through to them. He wields

Play World of Warcraft with Kinect?

World of Warcraft is a fun game to play, but can be physically difficult for some people. I know I can only play for a certain amount of time before my wrists start to hurt. That is why the video below is so promising and exciting. Researchers at the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies have created a toolkit that allows Kinect to work with the PC. From there, the software is created to allow the researchers to play World of Warcraft using the Kinect without any mouse or keyboard interaction. The potential uses go beyond gaming. The team talks about on their youtube page about using it for rehabilitation. I can imagine that it would make it easier for able gamers to play for varying lengths of time. And really who wouldn’t want to do a magic command with a wave of their hand? It’s great to

In case you care: My top 13 games of 2010, in no particular order

So we’ve done Holiday Guides for games, but those are a collaborative effort. Now that it’s (pretty much) too late to go get any more presents and you don’t need a Holiday Guide anymore, it’s time for a “best of” compilation! Except it’s all by me, so you might not care. Yeah, that’s the catch. How this goes down: This is my list. I’ll put a game on it (really, just whatever I think of, there’s no order here at all), tell you why I thought it was one of the best of the year, and it’s up to you to decide whether or not you actually care about what I say. Cool, right? Except that’s like the entire rest of the Internet, so you should totally be used to that. Without further ado, this is the part where I talk about how 2010 was such an awesome year for
