    Zynga acquires NYC-based Area/Code Games

Area/Code Games, responsible for the games “Drop7,” “Parking Wars” and “CSI: Crime City,” has been acquired by Zynga and renamed to Zynga New York. In a blog post from the company today, Area/Code affirmed that current leadership will remain in place. They also expressed some level of excitement about the acquisition, basically stating that Zynga is at the top of their game and that things are pretty much going to be awesome for them. They expressed a desire to want to continue to build awesome games, and hopefully that will continue. (Zynga, not coincidentally, now needs new team members in New York.) Of course, now I just have to wonder how long it’ll be before Drop7 is on Facebook and I lose all hint of productivity.

Add a little “Dead Space 2″ to your Dragon Age

Cross-promotion. TV shows love it (remember when Steve Urkel showed up on Full House? That was pretty sweet) and games love it, too. This time, our victims (I mean, participants) are Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age II. BioWare and Visceral Games (both part of EA) are working together to bring the “Ser Issac of Clarke” heavy armor set to Dragon Age II. You’ll have to have Dead Space 2 for it to work, since the instructions are included with copies of the game. Those instructions come with a download code for the armor, which won’t be useful at all until Dragon Age II releases, but at least you’ll have it ahead of time.

Gearbox Software (you know them from Borderlands) and 2K Games announced today that Duke Nukem Forever, the game we thought would never ship, actually has a release date. So, when is it? Those flying pigs circling your head on May 3 of this year should be some sort of indicator. (If you’re not in North America, however, those pigs will have a three-day delay, to May 6.) It’s time once again for Duke to save the Earth, and of course it’s the aliens we’ve got a problem with this time. Duke comes with his usual barrage of crazy weaponry and a dirty mouth, and Gearbox is promising some high levels of interactivity with the world (what that indicates could be scary or excellent). If you want to play the demo early, access is provided inside the Borderlands Game of the Year edition. And now, for a trailer. But this isn’t
