Civ IV wins at the Grammys

The Grammys were full of celebration of music and this year that included video games! Video Game composer, Christopher Tin won a Grammy Award for “Baba Yetu”. “Baba Yetu” has been performed at Video Games Live since 2006 and it is featured on the Video Games live dvd. Composer Christopher Tin said, “The fact that this song has had a life outside of the game is owed almost entirely to Video Games Live. They were the first to bring this music to concert stages around the world and to places I had never dreamed possible.” Video Games Live CEO Tommy Tallarico added, “We’re so proud of Christopher’s Grammy Award victory and what he has accomplished. This historic moment will continue to bridge the gap between mainsteam music and video games. It is an honor to perform his music in our show.” Here is the song as it appears in Video

    PS3 Hacker Apprehended

The hacker who discovered how to open up the PS3 with a jail break code has been ordered by a US judge to turn over his hard drive to Sony for inspection. PlayStation 3 hacker George Hotz, the 21-year-old aka GeoHot, must meet with Sony to turn his computer over. Sony has been allowed to retrieve information that relates to the hacking of the console. You may remember late last year when GeoHot was the first to fully crack the PlayStation 3. It might not have been the wisest move to publish his jailbreak code on his website and put up a video explaining how to use it on YouTube. Sony has sued Hotz on a Digital Millennium Copyright Act claim, alleging he distributed code that circumvented anti-piracy controls. The issue comes up where PS3 owners do not have complete access to the machine. And are only allowed to run

Getting glam at the Wonder Woman MAC pop-up store

MAC makeup has always been one of my favorite makeup brands for years. I think it was their eyeshadow colors that first got my attention and I just fell in love with their other products after getting a bit of a makeover at their stores once. So between that and how much of a geek I am, you bet I was excited when I first heard about them coming out with a full line of Wonder Woman themed makeup! Well the wait is finally over, and even better MAC opened up a pop-up store in SoHo completely decked out in Wonder Woman comics and graphics that would make any geeky girl fall in love. The first thing that caught my attention was the fact that the walls were made to look like a comic shop. They have cover displays of the whole Wonder Woman comic series as well as covers

    Review: MicroBot

Rating: E (for Everyone) Genre: Shoot ‘em Developer: Naked Sky Entertainment Publisher: EA Release Date: December 29, 2010 DEMO When I first read about the concept of MicroBot I was intrigued.  It’s an Asteroids type game where you get to travel throughout a human body as a microbot ship to destroy an infestation. Great concept, but I was quickly frustrated with the game. To begin, you’re given a small tutorial by way of prompts (and a 5 point achievement for leaving the syringe) which help you to get the general idea of how the game controls work. They’re very simplistic and most anyone would be able to get the hang of them rather quickly. The left thumbstick moves the ship, the right thumbstick fires your weapons. You also have the right and left bumpers to show the map which overlays nicely onto the screen, as well as holding right trigger

    Meg’s Weekly DC Review

This week has been a bit of a roller coaster for the Big Blue of the Big Two. Usually, when I’m thrusting my hard-earned dollars across the counter of my local comic store, I’m hoping to get the most out of what I’m going to read. Because let’s be honest, even while DC is “drawing the line at 2.99,” three dollars for twenty pages of story isn’t cheap. Still, that doesn’t keep comic nerds from shelling out the cash every week to get their monthly dose of their favorite heroes. That’s what makes week like this a little frustrating for fans. Careful, there are spoilers ahead! This week, my pull list consisted of: Justice League Generation Lost #19: In this issue, Judd Winick’s group of misfit Justice Leaguers are finally taking the fight to Max Lord in order to get back the Blue Beetle, Jaime Reyes. While I miss Aaron
