Featured Facebook Game of the Week – Where in the World is…

Carmen Sandiego? (I can hear Rockapella singing it now!) This is a game that I used to play on the computer when I worked in after school care with school age kids and watched on TV even before that. So when I saw it as a Facebook game, I felt that childlike excitement and couldn’t wait to get my mouse on it. The sentiment is the same, players take an active role as detectives hunting Carmen’s henchmen (and henchwomen) all over the world, testing and expanding geographical and cultural knowledge while putting deductive reasoning and perfect timing to the test putting clues together to get a warrant before actually finding the bad guy. Starting at the ACME headquarters in San Fransisco, players talk to witnesses in order to get information on either the identity of the henchperson or where they are headed next, get a warrant for the right one,

SEGA releases trailer for a 20th anniversary ‘Sonic’ title

Hey, the blue guy with the speedy shoes is back! This morning, SEGA released a trailer for a new, currently unnamed (at least officially) Sonic the Hedgehog title that will celebrate the little guy’s 20th anniversary. Naturally, it’s a teaser, so I don’t think gameplay would look anything like this, but if it does, hey, that’s nice. Watch below.

Time to hear more from Funcom’s ‘The Secret World’

Apparently, everything we’ve ever known as false is actually true. Funcom cited “myths and legends” when they made that reference, but come on. What about up and down? Is down really up? Should I have been looking down at the sky all this time? No, probably not. (Probably.) But at least “everything is true” in this trailer for Funcom’s MMO, The Secret World. Take a look below.

Jellyvision’s ‘You Don’t Know Jack’ coming to iOS

Jellyvision announced today that following the fairly-successful release of You Don’t Know Jack, which seems to have effectively reinvigorated the series, the series will be making the jump to iDevices. There’s currently no release date for the iPad/iPhone/iTouch version, but 20 episodes are confirmed for the title, as well as Game Center support. Are you looking forward to this new version of the quirky game?

    Ellen’s Know or Go App

The new Ellen Show game called No or Go is a hoot. It is a trivia game that tests your knowledge of general information. The categories include Movies and Music, Geography, History, Pop Culture and random stuff. You have to know your Ellen show references as well. The App has questions ranging from Easy, Medium and Hard. The levels progress the more you answer correctly. You can select a female or male avatar to play as. You can also customize your character by putting in your own photo for your face. Then you can pick clothing and skin tone. I have seen console games with character customizations that don’t match the capabilities of this little App. As long as you get the answers right, you are fine. But when you get it wrong, your character falls down a hole, just like on the show. You are given Life Savers, which

    Review: Mass Effect 2 (PS3)

Rating: M (for Mature) Publisher:Electronic Arts Developer: Bioware Release Date: January 28, 2011 (PS3) RENT Mass Effect 2 was released for Xbox 360 and PC back in the beginning of 2010. It is getting pretty tired that it takes games like this another whole year to come out on the PS3. Why they have to continue with the annoying exclusivity rights and other delays that make PS3 releases take forever is beyond me. The focus should be on the consumer experience, and that would mean good customer service. If we don’t have a game for a year, then that is literally not serving the customer. That may all be in the past if Mass Effect 3 which is said to be dropping this fall, becomes cross platform. This game had the distinction of winning several Game of the Year Awards, which did not make not getting it on time any
