The PlayStation Network’s breach has compromised your personal information

Time to start changing your passwords, people! According to PlayStation.Blog’s Patrick Seybold, one of our worst fears about PSN’s downtime has come true, and you’ll start seeing emails informing you of “a compromise of personal information as a result of an illegal intrusion on our systems.” That…is pretty serious. So, what kind of personal information do these hackers have? Let’s take a look. “…[W]e believe that an unauthorized person has obtained the following information that you provided: name, address (city, state, zip), country, email address, birthdate, PlayStation Network/Qriocity password and login, and handle/PSN online ID. It is also possible that your profile data, including purchase history and billing address (city, state, zip), and your PlayStation Network/Qriocity password security answers may have been obtained. If you have authorized a sub-account for your dependent, the same data with respect to your dependent may have been obtained. While there is no evidence at

‘Twisted Metal’ gets a ‘Broken’ trailer

Eat Sleep Play and Sony released a brand-new Twisted Metal trailer yesterday, and it clocks in at two minutes. It features a mix of gameplay and rendered scenes that are, to be frank, just a little bit creepy. But then again, I’m one of those folks who is kind of terrified by Sweet Tooth, so what do I know? Watch the trailer below. Video Games | Twisted Metal | Broken Full-Length Trailer Xbox 360 | PlayStation 3 | Nintendo Wii | PC Games

    These eggs are Super

Some families celebrate part of Easter by painting eggs in various pastel colors and designs. The eggs can be in the house for the weeks in April and then on Easter Sunday, those eggs are scattered in the yard to be found. My brother and his girlfriend decided to celebrate painting eggs in their own geeky way. They created the JLEGGS. Flash, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. All in egg form. They were all hand painted and sit on a clay base. I think they are amazing! I love how they have such simple but great expressions. We spoke on Sunday about making a Galactus on an Ostrich egg. They have plans to make other characters as well. Who would you like to see them make next?

GameStop no longer stocking DS Lite units

The DS Lite is what made a lot of us trade in our original Nintendo DS units — the slim form factor meant just a little bit of extra room in our bags, which meant we could tote a few more games around, right? Well, that turned into the DSi, and the DSi XL, and now the 3DS, so the second-generation DS is looking a little old, unfortunately. GameStop sees this, and Joystiq confirmed yesterday that the retailer will no longer be stocking new DS Lite units. One retailer’s choice won’t affect your purchasing decisions too much, however — other retail outlets are still stocking the units for now. (It is possible that they could follow suit in the future, however, so if you were looking to buy one of these handhelds, you might want to accelerate that decision.)

First Look: Gears of War 3 Multiplayer

I’ve been a fan of the Gears of War series since the first game was released back in 2006. The story of the series for the two games we’ve had so far, has been engaging and the gameplay has been fun. So of course I was excited for the Gears of War 3 beta to begin so I could get a look at what’s coming next. The beta is only online multiplayer so there’s no story involved and for the most part, it plays just like Gears of War 2 multiplayer.  The shotgun is cheesy, meaning you can just walk up to anyone and one-shot them, just like it was in the beginning of the Gears 2 multiplayer before; I believe it was patched out of the game. There are a few new things that are nice. I enjoy the new maps a lot; the layouts of the maps are
