The DS Lite is what made a lot of us trade in our original Nintendo DS units — the slim form factor meant just a little bit of extra room in our bags, which meant we could tote a few more games around, right?
Well, that turned into the DSi, and the DSi XL, and now the 3DS, so the second-generation DS is looking a little old, unfortunately.
GameStop sees this, and Joystiq confirmed yesterday that the retailer will no longer be stocking new DS Lite units.
One retailer’s choice won’t affect your purchasing decisions too much, however — other retail outlets are still stocking the units for now. (It is possible that they could follow suit in the future, however, so if you were looking to buy one of these handhelds, you might want to accelerate that decision.)
