‘Call of Duty’ series adding some features…for a price

Call of Duty Elite is a new service from Activision that is coming along with the release of Modern Warfare 3. What has some people in a tizzy about it, then? You’ll have to pay for some parts of the service.

News of this broke via the Wall Street Journal late last night, and while people are saying that it’s littered with inaccuracies, those who can actually inform us of the truth weren’t able to speak until today. We will publish a rundown of the actual specifics, but as of now, I can really only believe Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling, who took to Twitter to correct what he could in a few brief sentences:

“COD ELITE is free, for all players, some paid aspects TBD. Absolutely NO fee to play #MW3 multiplayer. Details tomorrow AM.”

Can’t say a lot in 140 characters, but this attempt to fan the flames may have made some people feel a little bit better. How do you feel about this addition to the series?
